February 2023
I stayed at Brookside Manor for 3 nights from the 17th to 20th February 2023 in a group of about 30 people.
The Manor itself is stunningly gorgeous - huge, with rambling grounds and a beautiful view of the rolling fields. The dining room/room you enter via is lovely - those huge tables allow for everyone to sit and eat together, and there were candles lit when we first arrived, which was a lovely touch. The staircase is grand, the kitchen is cosy (especially the aga), and there are lots of conveniences, such as the multiple fridges, the kitchenette, the many bedrooms, the multiple en suites, and the cupboard containing an ironing board and various cleaning bits.
Some bits of the manor are a bit tired and outdated. For example, the bathroom near bedroom 7 has a very flickery light, which isn't necessarily a problem for most people, but as someone who has seizures it meant I couldn't shower at night as it was strong enough to set them off. The lack of towels provided was also a frustration - the listing on the site we booked it via listed towels as provided, and we only found out they weren't provided the day before.
I'd highly recommend staying at Brookside so long as you have access to a car or are willing to wait a bit for a taxi. You will also need to get a supermarket delivery or, again, be willing to drive. There are some lights that need fixing, areas which need a touch up of paint, general bits of repair, but it's a STUNNING place to spend time and I will absolutely be back!
