Area
Rothbury is the capital of Coquetdale and is dominated by the heather-clad Simonside Hills. It is located on the north bank of the famous salmon and trout river, the Coquet. It's a charming tiny market town with good local walking because to its proximity to Northumberland's National Park. The town's steep main streets are lined with stone homes typical of the region, and there is a good selection of stores. This beautiful location has plenty to offer, with a golf course, public tennis courts, and cycle hire close by, as well as a selection of great buildings and gardens to explore, including Cragside, Alnwick Castle (seat of the Duke of Northumberland), Wallington Hall, and a number of other notable castles. Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Reservoir and Forest, as well as the coast's sandy beaches and dunes, are all easily accessible by car.

Region
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.
