Fern End is a stone-built cottage set in the town of Rothbury in Northumberland. It has three bedrooms consisting of a king, a twin and a single room, there is also a family shower room and a cloakroom, the cottage can sleep six people. Also inside there is a kitchen diner and a sitting room. To the outside there is off road parking for three cars and a rear patio with a table and chairs. Fern End is a stunning cottage in an excellent location.

Area
Rothbury is on the north bank of the River Coquet, and is dominated by the Simonside Hills. It is a market town and its proximity to Northumberland’s National Park ensures excellent walking. Stone houses line the town’s main streets and there is shops on offer. With a golf course, tennis courts and cycle hire close by and great houses and gardens to explore, including Cragside, Alnwick Castle (home of the Duke of Northumberland), Wallington Hall and a host of famous castles, this great location has plenty to offer. Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder Reservoir and Forest and the sandy beaches and dunes of the coast are also within easy driving distance.

Rear patio with a table and chairs. One well behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Numerous local shops including post office, banks and chemist and pubs 2 minute walk. NOTE: Owner will only accept Saturday to Saturday Bookings

The Maltings is a beautiful cottage and the owner went above and beyond in their kindness with ensuring we had everything we needed.. Rothbury is perfect and has become our second home over the years.

The cottage is excellent and it is so quiet considering its not far from the main street.. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. Rothbury is really nice and the locals are really friendly.

Hassle free arrival and minimal intervention.. The house was spotless and we were met by a few gifts which was a nice surprise, all necessary instruction was there and a brief visit by the owner shortly after arrival to check everything was ok. The only thing which could have been improved on was the shower which did the job but was a little temperamental but this is a minor niggle in an otherwise excellent home.

It was surprising to find the bed fitted with WINTER bedding in a heatwave! Otherwise a nice property. Curtains to shut out the light at 5am in the bedroom are a must.

The Maltings was a lovely house in a great location.. It is close to the main street but in peaceful surroundings with the river and playpark just around the corner. The owners were very attentive and left a great welcome pack which was much appreciated. We would recommend this property without hesitation.

Very good holiday accommodation, the house very well equipped, everything seemed new.. The location was excellent, even though near the main street it was very quiet. The Co-op was just across the main street. We found both pubs to be good particularly The Queens Head. Everyone was friendly and obliging no matter where we went. "Cragside" is a "must" what an amaxing man Thomas Armstrong was. Bamburgh Castle, Keilder Water and the Roman fort at Housestead all worth visiting. We avoided the A1 and had found the roads quiet and very scenic.

No, this is a good holiday cottage possibly due to the owners living there during the winter so it is for their comfort as well.. I always say any holiday cottage owner should stay in their cottage for a week before they let it!!!! So this one was very good, lovely comfy bed too.

14 THE MALTINGS ,Rothbury was an exceptionally well set out and clean accommodation It sits in a central location in the village and is convenient for shops ,banks restaurants and pubs ,we were pleased with the welcome pack and general warm welcome extended to us by the owners Gordon and Theresa .. Rothbury is a good base for exploring Northumberland with Hexham ,Alnwick and other family friendly attractions within easy reach .
