Area
One of the biggest towns in Northumberland, Ashington is fantastic and offers a wide range of amenities. There are vibrant markets with bunting where customers can buy genuine goods from small stalls, as well as restaurants serving regional cuisine. A lovely location with a stunning lake is Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, and Ashington Community Woodland is excellent for walkers and wildlife observers. In the Woodhorn Museum, a disused coal mine from the 19th century that now houses regional artwork and artefacts, learn about the town's farming and mining past. The picturesque harbour that houses Sean Henry's beautiful Couple sculpture and the quiet Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Beach are both nearby Ashington. Golfers can also visit the Newbiggin Golf Club for stunning coastal views.

Region
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.
