Olive Cottage is a romantic, semi-detached cottage located in the town of Richmond in North Yorkshire and benefits from stunning views of Richmond castle. The cottage can sleep two people in one king-size double with en-suite facilities. The rest of the cottage is made up of an open plan living area with a fitted kitchen, seating area and dining area. To the outside of the cottage is off road parking for one car and a cobbled garden with furniture. Olive Cottage is the perfect base to explore Richmond and the surrounding area.

Area
Situated at the entrance to Swaledale, the market town of Richmond stands on a prominent hilltop site to the north of the River Swale. The town grew up around its castle, a Norman fortress dating back to 1071. Within the town, narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled Market Place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market) and there are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. The Georgian Theatre is one of the oldest surviving theatres in the country with visitors enjoying its regular productions all year round.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Just come back from stating in Olive Cottage. There is everything there for your stay. Such as a full size fridge, a microwave, toaster and a oven an hob if you wish to cook. The cottage was clean and tidy. We had lots of information on places to go and places to eat out.. I would recommend the cottage without a doubt. It was so quiet due to the fact there was no traffic or anyone walking pass the cottage.

The recycling it doesn’t tell you I.. The book you have to separate the glass ,the bin men wouldn’t take it so graham had to separate them run after bin men ,the place was comfy upstairs very bright down stairs could do with brightening up a little but the cottage was comfy and cosy we would have ne problems going again or recommending it ,thank you

Olive cottage is close to Richmond town centre and is clean, cosy and comfortable; just as Sykes Cottages described it.. It gave us a relaxing holiday with trips to the dales and to Durham and Ripon.....and Richmond itself is delightful. So we had a splendid week.

Lovely cottage for two, cosy and well-located in the heart of Richmond.. Kitchen is cosy for one and tricky for two so don't plan on any big homemade meals as size-wise the kitchen cannot accommodate it! The house and local area guide is in a box under the TV, we found it on our third day and wish we had found it sooner!

Richmond is lovely and this cottage is in a good location. The bed is comfortable but the downstairs room (the cottage is a one up - one down) is very cramped and less comfortable. The place was clean except for the crockery and utensils - I can understand the owners rely on tenants to keep these clean but I didn't expect on Day One having to pull-out everything we would use during the week and give a good clean. It would have been helpful to have had a telephone number for the owner as we did have a problem (the shower leaked through the ceiling to the downstairs room) and there was some delay having to go through the booking company (Sykes Cottages). This is a high-density housing area - we may have been unfortunate with the noise from builders next door.

The cottage was good, the bed was good, the bathroom (particularly the shower) was good.. The living room is dark, this is particularly the case in the kitchen area - a light is needed there. Enough cutlery and crockery for two, No dish cloths to clean the working area. Most places provide a little milk, tea and coffee for guests on arrival until they have shopped. None were provided. The positioning of the property is good, meaning that the car can be left in the off road parking space when going into Richmond. Overall it was a good place to stay.
