I can't rate this cottage highly enough.. It very much exceeded our expectations being set in such a green peaceful and restful setting. The owners were very welcoming on our arrival and were always on hand at the golf club to answer any queries we had. The cottage was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated and furnished. It was well equipped and spacious and the bed was a dream to sleep in. The whole atmosphere was very uplifting. When we arrived and the weather was hot, the cottage was light and airy, and when the weather turned chilly the heating was very effective and the wood burning stove was easy to use and delightful to sit in front of. The property is very near to York's 'Park and Ride' facility, which we used easily and successfully. There is a village shop and post office, a couple of miles away, in Wheldrake, which sells everything and stays open all the time. There are plenty of historical and cultural things to do in York and Beverley, and there is access to walking with beautiful views along the Wolds Way, the Minster Way, the David Hockney Trail and the Chalkland Way. We discovered beautiful Wolds villages with excellent pubs and tea rooms. A memorable highlight was visiting the gallery of wildlife artist Robert Fuller, in Thixendale.
