6 Abbey Terrace is an imposing Victorian mid-terraced cottage, centrally situated in the historic town of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. Spread over five floors and made up of nine bedrooms (four doubles, three twins, a single and a family room) with three shower rooms and two bathrooms, this cottage can sleep up to eighteen people in comfort. The rest of the accommodation is made up of a fitted kitchen, a dining room and two sitting rooms. Outside the cottage is a small front garden with patio and some seating and off road parking for two cars. Just two minutes' walk away from all of the amenities of Whitby, including the beach, 6 Abbey Terrace is a fantastic holiday cottage for a large family or a group of friends.

Lower ground floor bathroom with bath, basin & WC. Kitchen with breakfast bar. Outside utility. Dining room seating 18. First floor sitting room (seats 10). Additional first floor sitting room (seats 8).

The fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire with its superb coastline and the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

Our one-week's stay at 6 Abbey Terrace Although we had been warned in advance, more than half our family failed to bring our own towels, which somewhat spoilt our arrival.. We called the house keeper to report that the towel rail in the basement bathroom was not heating, but no action was taken to remedy this, which was disappointing. The sound proofing between the ground floor and the basement needs improving, as wooden floors amplify the noise. On the positive side, the house was spotlessly clean and felt safe. We appreciated the spacious dining-room with the welcome pack, as we did 3 years ago. The kitchen and dishwasher facilities are good for a large self-catering family, as is the availability of crockery and cutlery. On the whole, a positive experience in difficult circumstances.

Positive - Stayed at this address for 7 nights ( 9 adults) . Such a large building with plenty of rooms to accommodate 18. Good decor through out. Good quality furnishings and furniture. Kitchen was well stocked with good quality utensils etc. Negative - too many stairs to climb up and down. Top floor was a nightmare to get up to as steep stairs and coming down was dangerous if you have walking / climbing issues. Council did not empty the refuse bins and they were overflowing. Apart from that pretty well located with 5 minutes of the beach. Nice area to be in too.

This is one of the best houses we have rented for our "Annual Cousns Weekend". We have been doing this for the past 11 years. It was my turn this year to organise it, a huge job. The minute we walked in through the door everyone said how lovely it was and also how clean and fresh it smelt. The owners had left a welcome pack along with a card saying they hoped we all would enjoy our stay in Whitby. The house was just perfect, most of the bedrooms were very large, the smaller ones were still a very good size. Beds comfortable, sheets, covers etc very fresh. The kitchen was well equipped and there is plenty of room for the 15 people who were there. The dining room was well set out with plenty of chairs. The sitting rooms were comfortable and extremely relaxing to sit in. We needed help with the wifi and the owner was around in less than half an hour to fix it. A very nice, pleasant man. After arrived home I received an email thanking us all for the condition we had left the property in. We have never had this before even though we have always left any houses we have rented in the condition we found it in. I forwarded it to all the group and everyone was delighted to hear this. I would definitely recommend this property to people. The situation was perfect, the house was exactly how it looked on the website. You won't get a better property in Whitby.

The house is so spacious that 18 people could stay and eat very comfortably. The house has a super large dining table which all 18 guests could sit round and the kitchen was very well equipped to cater for a large meal (even has two dishwashers). There is a very helpful and pleasant housekeeper, Annie, who made contact to check everything was in order and house was very clean and well furnished. The location was very good too, easy walk into the centre and a couple of minutes walk from the beach. Stayed the weekend with 16 other people on my friend,Kathy's hen do.We were all very impressed with the house,and never once felt crowded,due to ample space for everyone. The kitchen was very well equipped,and,apart from a dodgy tinopener,we couldn't fault it.The dining room proved to be a great place to meet up for games and plans for the day/night too. I shared a twin bedded room on the very top floor,and our bathroom was amazing,with a full sized shower,plus bath with shower attachment,large washbasin and toilet. Real leather settees in both lounges were comfy,and there was plenty of tables to rest our cuppa's on...;) Would love to stay here again,as not too far from all Whitby has to offer~Fabulous!

I stayed here to celebrate my 60th birthday with my family and friends. It was a perfect place to accommodate our group of 14 people for a week, with room for a further 4 to join us midweek. There was room for everyone to get together (the large dining table and two living rooms were particularly good for this) but without feeling we were ever on top of each other. The house itself is well-decorated, comfortable and very well equipped, even including children's plates etc. The location is excellent; just a few minutes walk into the town centre, the beach and the harbour. When we arrived the house was clean and tidy, and the housekeeper gave us a warm welcome. It was the perfect place to holiday with a large group and I would thoroughly recommend it..

This was our second visit to 6 Abbey Terrace having spent a long weekend with a group of friends several years ago. On this occasion the house hosted a gathering of our family and the accommodation didn't disappoint being at the very high standard that we had remembered. The house is very well equipped and decorated to a high standard. The kitchen table is vast and enabled the whole group to eat together and made for a great focal point. With 2 lounges you are able to find a quiet area in the house to pick up a book. Perfectly positioned for an easy walk to the harbour or the beach I would certainly recommend the house for a relaxing group holiday. Just be prepared for the exercise with the many flights of stairs to reach the top rooms :-)

We stayed at 6 Abbey Terrace to celebrate my 30th birthday, and had an absolutely fantastic time. It's a house which has been put together beautifully to allow a large party to settle in quickly and have a great holiday. The bedrooms are all lovely, and the split of twins and doubles really helpful to accommodate a variety of groups. The kitchen was great to allow better people than I to prepare lovely meals, and it was so amazing to have the massive dining room table, and look around it and see so many lovely people in one place! It's an easy walk into the middle of Whitby (although it's steep - but that's true of anywhere in Whitby), to the beach, to the (half a) Royal Crescent. So there are plenty of pubs, shops, fish and chips within easy reach. There's pretty much nothing you need to bring with you, as the house is wonderfully equipped (except maybe an extra CD player or two), you can just arrive, relax and settle in. There are two parking spaces, but the very friendly and relaxed landlords will arrange for very cheap extra permits if you need them. Overall, such a lovely stay and a lovely place to celebrate together.

The accommodation was excellent - clean, tidy and well presented with space for all of us, including 7 children under 5! The two sitting rooms were ideal for keeping the toys controlled and it was nice to be close to the town and the beach.

What a wonderful house! We booked for an extended family gathering (ages 1-71) and spent a fantastic long weekend here in complete warmth and comfort. The house is spacious, light and airy and accommodated the 18 of us plus a baby easily. Huge, tastefully decorated bedrooms and delightfully comfortable beds are a pleasure to sleep in. Two large adjoining living rooms mean there's plenty of room for everyone and yet separate interests can be catered for; the children enjoyed screen games in one while we relaxed in the other. It's great to be able to all sit around one fabulous dining table for meals amidst such characterful features - fireplace, chandelier, shuttered bay window. The kitchen is magnificently equipped and very well planned. With 5 bathrooms placed throughout the house there is never an issue of shortage and a good mixture of baths and showers and never-ending hot water means that everyone is happy. The house is ideally situated for a short walk down into town or the beach and everything that beautiful Whitby has to offer. This property is a real gem. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

The house was very well located in Whitby, near to the beach, a very good children's playground and the town. The house was well equipped and had a great kitchen with two dishwashers and a lovely cooker. There were nice little touches like children's crockery and cutlery, also comfy beds.

I dont know where to start! Two families age ranges from 18-71 had a wonderful week in beautiful Abbey Terrace. The house is a dream, clean and beautifully furnished, the beds are like clouds, even the seaguls did not disturb our sleep! We intended to eat out BUT the kitchen was such a pleasure to be in we cooked each evening apart from one when we ordered in so that we could sit round the fabulous dining table :) The locaion is ideal, just around the corner is Bothams Bakery where we bought fresh bread and cakes daily...and ladies across from Bothams is a gorgeous shoe shop, what more can a girl ask for cupcakes and shoes!!! The harbour, town and beach are just minutes away on foot. Parking for two cars behind the house. Congratulations to the owners for providing such a stunning property and for keeping a lot of the victorian character in the house. I highly recommend this fantastic house to you. I hope you enjoy Abbey Terrace as much as we did.

As there were 6 couples all paying equal amounts to rent the house it was very appropriate that we all could be allocated equivalent standard bedrooms i.e. each a wardrobe etc, all beautifully decorated as was the whole house. The position of the house is great and the ability for us to go out separately and have use of the key to re-enter was brilliant.

If you are looking for a place for a large gathering-this is the house. Superb kitchen, everything sipplied to cook any meal under the sun! Massive dining table-great for large parties, 2 louges which can be made almost into one huge room. Great showers, hot, strong, fast floimng & huge. Although there are no en-suites, having 18 people plus baby in this house didn't prove a problem with 5 bathrooms Very stylish decor, quality beds and furniture with loads of space for kids to run around. Even a shed to hold the beer, and the wet golf gear! The house is in a great location near the beach, pavillion, shops, pubs, chippies, resteraunts, parks and leisure centre. I would fully recommend 6 Abbey Terrace, Whitby for anyone looking to book a big house.

I had to let you know what a fantastic time we had, this property is superb, it's cosy yet roomy even with the house full to capacity. So warm for February, and we didn't even light a fire. The kitchen is equipped to a very high standard. Loved the huge dinning table, and 2 lounges (mens womens when football was on!!) The showers were of full force and large, even with 18 people showering after each other, and the location was fantastic - easy reach of shops, pub, café's, chip shops and restaurants, including beach, cinema and sports centre. So much thought has gone into this property, and the owners should be very proud of themselves. I can honestly say that this was the best self catering holiday I have had in 25 years of visiting holiday houses. Thank you so much for the efficient service.
