The location is superb!
It sits just inside the Forest of Bowland AONB, next to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and very close to the Lake District National Park.
We went on long walks over moors and past waterfalls, (and shorter ones) with them and their well-behaved Labrador, Lucy.
We ate in great restaurants, visited Leighton Moss RSPB, and rode the famous Settle-Carlisle railway.
It was a pleasure to return in the evenings to this perfect renovation.
The rooms are large, airy and very tastefully appointed.
There is a log-burner in the lounge, and a barbeque, both of which we made use of.
There are stunning views from the secluded garden (beautifully enclosed with dry-stone walls) on the terrace, which falls away to the lawn, with a delightful cottage-garden border. The cow and sheep-filled fields fall away into the Wenning Valley and rise again majestically to the peaks of Gragareth, Whernside, Ingleborough, and farther east, Pen-y-Ghent.
The views from the bedrooms were even better!
The kitchen looks across the large, gravelled parking area to the paddock, where it is amazing to watch wallabies bounding across the grass as you prepare a meal.
The water is copious, hot and the showers powerful. The massive stone flags on the floor benefit from under-floor heating, and there is a big range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine.
I enjoyed taking Lucy for her morning walk every day, and if your dog doesn't behave, keep it on a lead, as the long drive is lined with sheep fields, and once over the cattle-grid onto the moor, the sheep are wandering freely. Lucy can be walked within feet of sheep without a lead, and behaves impeccably - a real lady.
It really is perfect, and we had a FANTASTIC week.
