The village of Great Ayton is perched on the banks of the River Leven.

Around the village are several interesting walks, with the property also providing an excellent base for the more adventurous walker wishing to explore the nearby North York Moors National Park, especially in the summer months when the moors turn purple with blooming heather. The village of Stokesley is a must visit, with cobbled streets, boutique shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants.
