The cottage is a beautifully converted, and very spacious. On arrival it was lovely to have fresh yellow roses in the house, a little Easter egg on our pillows, wine, milk and fresh eggs from the farm - lovely touches. Overall the cottage was very pleasant. Owner rang me back with recommendation for a local taxi service as we were attending a wedding locally. Lots of board games the children enjoyed playing.
One of the things that many past guests mentioned was the wonderful Yorkshire welcome - but we didn’t have one, we didn’t really meet the owners - we’d have liked to. On arrival we had a technical difficulty connecting to the free WiFi running on a hotspot, and asked for assistance with this. The gentleman came over but wasn’t too welcoming when trying to resolve and our only experience of the owners in person. Consequently, we didn’t want to bother them again over a couple of other issues we experienced - mainly the hot water supply running hot and cold in the bathroom/shower for our stay, which we put up with for the duration.
The double beds were very, very hard - single beds were fine (I know beds are personal taste, but this was one step up from camping!).
I’d also suggest that the kitchen equipment be looked at as for a family of 5, we struggled for larger pans and lack of casserole dishes, and some equipment.
Overall, a nicely converted cottage, well furnished and warm, close to amazing attractions of York, Byland Abbey etc, but we won’t return here when we return to the area.
