Within a few miles are a number of good restaurants and inns, golf course, ten pin bowling and a swimming pool and fitness centre, including indoor bowls, at Dereham, Gressenhall Rural Life Museum, Fakenham race course and the coastal towns of Wells and Blakeney.

The steam train runs from Dereham to Wymondham. Norwich is close by with theatres, cathedrals, museums, cinemas and shopping malls.
