Bushmills is a detached 18th century barn conversion cottage in the village of Abbey Dore in Herefordshire. The cottage has two ensuite double bedrooms, one twin room and one room with three single beds as well as two family bathrooms, making it suitable for nine people. The cottage also contains an open plan living area with a fitted kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with a woodburner. Outside the cottage is plenty of off road parking and a large garden with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. Close to the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons), Hereford and Hay-on-Wye, Bushmills is a superb cottage in a beautiful area.

Ground floor shower room with shower, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area (seats 9) and sitting area with woodburning stove.

The village of Abbey Dore is situated close to the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons) and the Black Mountains. 10 miles away is the city of Hereford and the market town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its book shops.

Herefordshire offers visitors the chance to journey through lush green countryside, enjoying splendid black-and-white timbered villages, a magnificent cathedral city, a fairytale Georgian castle at Eastnor or books galore in famous Hay-on-Wye.

Ideal house for a large family group, set in fantastic countryside with an amazing view. Lovely welcoming touches...cider, milk, snacks and flowers and host very prompt in answering queries. Fabulous garden for children and plenty of parking space for several cars. Very well equipped kitchen and 2nd useful fridge in utility room. A little remote but incredibly peaceful and drove to The Weir (NT) which was lovely, Raglan Farm and also paddled in the river at The Warren at Hay on Wye.

Lovely rural place to stay.. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need. It is to a great standard. On the listing it says there is a pool table there isn't. You have ping pong, table football and darts.

Was an amazing getaway the weather was lovley the host was friendly an the neighbors were really friendly.. It is very quiet an peaceful the house was lovely with a modern cottage look the games room added to the fun an the bbq helped us out a great deal for the cooking. Only downside should have supplied more loo rolls an paper towels along with more washing sponges. I guess thats wasnt thought about as we were the first people to stay during this covid era

Overall this is a great place to stay! - Very well kept, clean and very cosy in the winter (underfloor heating helps!). The owner is also really friendly and great to deal with. As much as I don't want to complain about anything, I think there are a few things that could be done to make this the best place we've stayed in and somewhere we would come back to EVERY YEAR! My friends and I go cycling in Wales every year. We are a group of (mature) guys, either 4 or 5 strong. The places we return to have a games room (which Bushmills has, HOWEVER IT STATES ON THE ADVERT THAT THERE IS A POOL TABLE AND THERE IS NOT ONE! - Which was actually disappointing given its one of the reasons we picked it), somewhere to store bikes (again covered), has a decent TV and Sky for the evenings (Bushmills does not have) and decent internet, as there or 4 or 5 of us trying to get on line when we are in the house (something Bushmills really lacks). Whilst I understand that some rural places don't have great internet, we find plenty of places in the local area that do, so it doesn't feel like that should be the reason Bushmills lacks. Its that bad I would even suggest either removing "WiFi" from the advert, or at least explain to people that it is next to useless. (dial up speed only).

My Sykes app very useful, all information required was to hand at all times.. Also liked the places of interest sent through, The cottage we stayed in was lovely, with a kind owner leaving fresh chicken eggs and treats for the kids. Everything was as described and very enjoyable.

The owner was unobtrusive, extremely delightful and helpful when needed.. This is an excellent, spacious, modern holiday home for 3 generations as we were. Good, quiet, downstairs twin bedded (we pushed them together with ease) room and a small shower room for the older couple. Upstairs three large bedrooms (one triple bedded), two with en suites and a large bathroom for the others. All the furnishings, bed linen, etc are good quality. Everyone remarked on the comfort of the beds. A wonderful outlook with lots of parking not obscuring the panoramic view. The games room is an absolute bonus, especially when, as we had, some very ‘mixed’ weather. Our only negative, not being walkers, was that Kerry’s Gate is fairly rural with limited attractions in a 30 min radius. None of us keen in spending much time in a car having got there. But it did enable a younger member to go down memory lane in south Shropshire with his wife and children matching family paintings of their village done in the 70s and 80s by great grandparents to the landscape as it now is. Much unchanged should you wonder. The Abbey at Abbey Dore, Owl and Small Breeds Centre (don't stroke the owl as suggested if you value your fingers!) and Hay on Wye worth a visit. A good time was had by all.

Excellent family holiday.. Plenty to do come rain or shine. The children & dads enjoyed the games room. The lawn hosted a brilliant water fight & the BBQ area was fantastic. We had extra guests there for the birthday meal but there was enough plates etc to go around. The kitchen was big enough to house 2 chefs. Would definitely stay there again.

This was a very warm, comfortable and well equipped property that was a perfect place for us have to have a family Christmas.. Having a downstairs bedroom was a real plus point for the eldest member of the party. If anything the pictures of the living area and kitchen didn’t do justice to the space or level of comfort. I don’t remember reading anything about the views from the cottage or garden so that was a pleasant surprise.

Stayed here recently with family for a weekend, house is very spacious and clean. Sleeps 9 people, 3 single beds in one of the three bedrooms upstairs with the other two rooms being double beds. One bedroom downstairs with 2 single beds. Double rooms upstairs both have en-suite and a separate large bathroom also upstairs. Would be nice if the house was south facing as you lose the sun in the afternoon from the garden area. Garden looks bigger in the photo than it actually is, but still good for the kids to run around on. Games room is good, table tennis, small pool table and darts. Games room is joined to house but you need to access it from outside. Would have been nice to have a larger tv to watch the rugby on but ample. Would definitely stay again. There is another house located next to the garden which we didn't realize would be as close as it was, but did not really see the people living there.

Arrived at this super barn conversion and we were surprised at how homely and welcoming it was considering its size,there was plenty of room for every one and you did not feel like you were squashed in like a few of the places we have visited. the property had everything you could need ,plenty of crockery and kitchen utensils. the beds were of a high quality and extremely comfortable. The icing on the cake was the games room which every generation of our family enjoyed. This in my opinion is a great place for a family to relax and the cut flowers, chocolates, and wine left for us say to me that the owner really consider there guests every need. The accommodation was superb for use by an extended family with an ideal layout of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the huge open plan living/dining area. The games room was a wonderful facility used by the children and adults alike. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. The gorgeous views from the property together with it's proximity to Hereford, Hay-on-Wye, Ross and Montgomery made for a wonderful base from which to explore the local area. We briefly met the owners who were friendly and helpful. Altogether a wonderful stay in a beautiful house. We were all sorry to leave!

Facilities are first rate; very comfortable and nicely finished. The lovely setting with fantastic views and wonderful weather certainly helped us have a terrific week. I loved every second of it, if you want to get away for a weekend Bushmill is the one to book. We were a group of 6 adults, 5 children and a baby, this house suited us perfectly. It was big enough that we weren't on top of each other all the time but we still felt all together. Beautiful quality finishes and fittings, I had best shower I've ever had!! Lovely peaceful countryside surrounds the house, it's quite a way to the nearest anything and a bit of a maze of roads but that only adds to the relaxing holiday experience. I can't recommend this house enough, we will definitely be back for a visit!

A first class holiday cottage geared towards families. Absolutely spotless and with everything we needed for our weeks stay last Christmas. We were made to feel very welcome and there was a christmas tree in the lounge with a small hamper of goodies and a puzzle each for our two grandchildren. The games room was an added bonus and was enjoyed by all, with a table tennis knockout competition throughout the week. The location had lovely views & was quiet with only a handful of properties in the small village, a car is necessary as there are no shops close by. The twin bedroom with a tv & shower room down stairs was great for my elderly father, who couldn't climb the stairs. All in all a fantastic holiday cottage.

Lovely, modernly refurbished, clean house. Ideal for our party with young children. A good kitchen/dinner/lounge for socialising. Close to Hereford. Mobile phone signal poor at the cottage. Enjoyed the comfy beds and games room.
