Holiday home
Herbrand House is a cosy welcoming annexe to the owner's home, with direct access to the shingle beach in Cooden Beach near Bexhill-on-Sea. The cottage is single storey, with a family room with king-size double bed and a single bed, and an adjacent shower room. The living area is open plan, with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside is ample off road parking, lockable bike storage and a patio with furniture as well as use of a designated area of the owner's garden, including steps down to the shingle beach. Herbrand House offers easy access to walking, the coast, train trips to London, or touring throughout Sussex and Kent.

All ground floor. One family bedroom with 1 king-size double and 1 single. Shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with sea views.

Area
Cooden Beach is a quiet setting just west of Bexhill-on-Sea, with a shingle beach and it's own railway station, as well as a golf course and hotel with spa. The coastal town of Bexhill-on-Sea is situated between Eastbourne and Hastings, and boasts a two mile promenade, the world famous De La Warr Pavilion, shops, museums, gardens and a motoring heritage centre, plus golf, fishing, water sports and the 1066 walk can all be enjoyed. Close by is Battle, with its Abbey, and Rye, with antique shops and tea rooms, plus Royal Tunbridge Wells is well worth a visit.

This is a lovely cottage, in a perfect position.. Very clean and well equipped with everything you need.Val was very welcoming and a nice surprise having the essentials left for us such as milk and bread also little things such as home made biscuits and jam . The cottage was very well equipped with a lovely welcoming basket of homemade biscuits, tea, coffee, bread and milk in the fridge.. Plus a large bowl of fresh fruit. Brilliant. It was in a great location with fantastic views and Val our host was extremely friendly without being intrusive. She was also very informative about the area and helped us on a few occasions when we required help.

We rarely go back to the same holiday place more than once.. This was our third stay at Herbrand House, and that says it all! As expected the warm welcome from Valarie was the start of another excellent week here. The location, with the walk through her lovely garden to the beach is a delight, and the high quality accommodation was as we remembered. We also had good weather to enjoy visits to local towns etc that we had not visited before, like Rye and Winchelsea, and the Bexhill Museum . This property must be a jewel in Sykes crown!

The welcome that is afforded by Valerie the owner is fantastic.. Home made biscuits, marmalade, fresh coffee and bread with a lovely bowl of fruit. All this and a wonderful view of the sea and walk onto the beach. The garden is an Italianate gem, beautifully maintained and reminding us of the Villas in Ravello, Italy. We will return and thank you Valerie. A real gem.

Herbrand House is the best Sykes Cottage that we have every stayed in.. The house is finished to a high standard and is equipped with everything you will need for your holiday including lots of welcome goodies like fruit and home made biscuits provided by Valerie, the owner. Herbrand House is an absolute gem.. With the owner living next door absolutely everything is taken care of. A Beautifully situated, clean and well decorated cottage, with all that you need for a lovely holiday.. Mrs Tarry (Val) welcomed us on our arrival and gave us a familiarising tour of the cottage. The welcome pack was very much appreciated and substancive, including tea, coffee, milk, bread, sugar and some lovely home made marmalade, fresh fruit also. The garden is spot on with your own sitting area on the patio and freedom to wander around the garden. access to the beach from the bottom of the garden is great. We had a wonderful week and the weather was superb. I would highly recommend this cottage and look forward to visiting again.

Lovely cottage,fantastic location would return an time..

This is the best holiday self catering we have ever stayed in.. Val Tarry the owner was there to welcome us and show us round. The place was spotless. We loved the delicate blue seaside theme which carried throughout the apartment. The beds and linen were high quality and conducive to good sleep. The bathroom was well appointed with a good size shower with seat and plenty of hot water. The highlight was the beautiful garden which stretched from a beautiful frontage of large proportions to the amazing rear garden extending right down to the beach. The gardens are planted with a never ending variety of salt hardy plants with the English channel as a backdrop. Everything was perfect, so peaceful and quiet and yet just five mins walk to the station and local shop. BexHill about 7 mins drive. We have already re booked for the summerecipient. Herbrand certainly deserves it's top star rating

Herbrand cottage provided us with a unique location and superb accommodation.. This was an excellent property on the beach and very near a hotel with good food.. Also near Cooden Beach train station so easy access to Eastbourne, Hastings and Brighton etc. on the train. The accommodation exceeded our expectations.. Valerie, our host was most welcoming, EVERY detail/comfort had been considered inside the cottage, from the well stocked kitchen, very comfortable king sized bed, beautiful decor, through to the surprise reception pack including a bowl of fresh fruit, croissants, crisps, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, marmalade and homemade biscuits. There was even the daily newspaper ready for us to read. The garden was spectacular, overlooking the sea which was at the end of the garden, ( with many seating areas provided), what a stunning view to wake up to each morning! The cottage was perfect, well laid out, good quality furniture and fittings, nothing had been overlooked or scrimped on in the preparation of this cottage. There was a fabulous garden to sit over looking the beach. The owner was helpful and there if needed, not that we had any problems, they were happy to advise on attractions in the area.
