I've booked with Sykes for over a decade and will not be booking again due to the totally inadequate service in the run up to my holiday this time.. No replies to messages, couldn't get through on the phone after hanging on for hours on end and the website didn't provide any useful information to help with my queries. I totally appreciate that Covid 19 is unprecedented, but when you're due to pay for a holiday and have questions, it isn't acceptable that they aren't responded to within a reasonable time and after many weeks. Feel totally let down as a customer.
As for the accommodation - we rec'd lots of information in advance around what would be different, none of which was (eg removal of cushions, teatowels, take own handwash etc - didn't apply). The cottage was OK/scenery lovely & beds/bedding good. Lack of crockery meant we had to wash up after every small meal or drink to be ready for the next...no pasta or soup bowls and 1 of everything else, even mugs etc - per person and just one large plate & 1 side plate which wasn't really enough. Hot tub was OK but jets didn't really do much/not as good an experience as we'd usually expect. Overall OK but not great.
