A pretty stone built cottage set on the hillside amongst a scattering of traditional farms that make up this picturesque Weardale village located in the heart of the North Pennines AONB. The village hosts a traditional pub which brews its own beer. Slitt Wood, an ancient woodland, to the north of the village is a place of peace and relaxation, it provides one of Weardale's favourite walks with a series of attractive waterfalls and over 100 varieties of wild flowers. Jump onboard The Weardale Railway, a 16 mile line which runs between Stanhope and Bishop Auckland or visit the Durham Dales Centre where you will find a wealth of information and is the perfect place to start or finish a Weardale Walk, you can even enjoy a well deserved slice of cake. Spend a day meandering around Durham City Centre (25 miles) with its impressive Cathedral, castle, historic university, river walks, shopping, and restaurants.
