Area
Shipton Gorge is a historic village dating back to the 11th century, mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. This village, with its high-banked lanes has no "gorge" but still has an interesting culture with beautiful houses and a strong community spirit. The village is home to a number of listed buildings and quintessential thatched cottages, as well as plenty of footpaths, some bridleways and two small woodland areas for you to explore on your trip. The history of the village continues with its 13th century font and 15th century church tower, making it a fascinating destination year round.

What a marvellous place this is. Fantastic, newly appointed in every room, high spec bungalow, gorgeous clean lines decor and amazing scenery surrounding it. Please see my photos of the spectacular view from the lounge. Rosamond is in a no through road so if you’re looking for peace and quiet without even hearing a pin drop ( apart from birdsong ), this is the perfect place for you. From the morning sun shining through at the breakfast table and lounge area at the rear of the property to the afternoon sun with tea in the sun room at the front, this is sheer bliss. The bed mattresses are fabulous quality, no expense has been spared and the owners are lovely people. The pretty and very well attended garden is dog secure ( unless you’re bringing a kangaroo ). I would thoroughly recommend Rosamond for a holiday and would not hesitate to return. Everything was perfect

A beautiful bungalow, extremely well decorated and spacious. Low level, large shower, big enough for a shower chair. A second toilet which is disabled height. Large bedrooms and the property has enough space for 4 adults and a dog. An hours walk from Hive beach and a beautiful walk to Bridport via Walditch, is well worth the climb on the way back. Climbing Shipton Hill, is worth the climb too, but wear long sleeved tops and trousers. A machete if you have one, is also useful. Longs fish and chips in Bridport are extremely tasty and Groves garden Centre do amazing lunches! The is undoubtedly the best holiday let we have ever stayed in and can’t wait to come back!
