We loved our week at this cottage, it is a real gem, deep in the Devon countryside, where the lanes are full of ferns and wildflowers, birdsong fills the air, and oak woods with bluebells invited us in.
It is off of the main tourist trail, a peaceful retreat where we really relaxed and had great sleep, yet also near to the coast, such as my favourite Braunton Burrows and Saunton Sands, as well as to Dartmoor and Exmoor. But most of the time we chose to stay in the immediate area as there are some lovely walks to do directly from the cottage.
The cottage itself is very loved and has been decorated in a very sensitive and tasteful way, it is a harmonious space. The master bedroom is really large and communal areas are also great sizes, the other two bedrooms are also very comfortable.
We found the heating and hot water system to be very effective. There are all mod cons, such as a washing machine and tumble dryer, and those who love cooking will appreciate the kitchen facilities. When my sister visited with her 2 yr old we noticed that all the additional equipment necessary for young children, such as stair gates, is in place.
The garden is another delightful space that we enjoyed a lot, it has lots of interesting and attractive plants, and again, attention to detail has clearly been given.
We loved Hope Cottage and this area of Devon and look forward to returning there again as it ticks all the boxes for us, and more.
