The market town of Wirksworth is located on the edge of The Peak District, close to Matlock. Filled great architectural buildings like the parish church, the town boasts independent shops, bakeries, butchers, an art cinema, a leisure centre and a climbing wall. It also holds attractions including the Heritage Centre and Puzzle Gardens, along with opportunities to explore the nearby countryside to do some walking, cycling and rock climbing at Black Rocks and the High Peak Trail. In May, the town hosts a carnival for Well Dressing and in September, it hosts the Art & Architecture Trail.
