Outside, there is a gravelled area with a picnic bench, and off-road parking for two cars. Within 0.2 miles, there is a shop and pub. Please note, this is a non-smoking property. Kendal, a historic market town with great shopping, is renowned as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Old cobbled roads and byways radiate off the main street, and the 12th-century stone ruins of Kendal Castle overlook the town. Abbot Hall Art Gallery has portraits by Kendal-born George Romney, Turner, and Ruskin, and Tate shows. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its Topiary Garden are close, as are easy-to-walk limestone escarpments with views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills, and Morecambe Bay. Kendal is near South Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales, and more. Kendal's museums, the Museum of Lakeland Life, the Quaker Tapestry, Lake Windermere, and the National Park are all easily accessible.
