Area
Between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay sits the picturesque Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands, which has one of the mildest climates in the north of England. When the Furness Railway was built, Grange-over-Sands, a sleepy fishing community, was converted into a chic Edwardian resort. The town has a lot to offer visitors today, including a promenade without any traffic, lovely decorative gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts, and superb bird watching. Lake Windermere (8 miles), the charming communities of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which have won the hearts of many, and Cartmel, the birthplace of sticky toffee pudding, with its renowned racecourse and the L'Enclume restaurant, which has been ranked as the fourth best restaurant in the UK, are all within a short drive of the property. Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and renowned topiary gardens, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust mediaeval castle and grounds, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house, are some of the further local attractions. Additionally, there is the 25-mile Cistercian Way, which begins in Grange over Sands.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
