The village of Polgooth is now a pleasant community on the fringes of St Austell, visited by people who want to enjoy the area's great scenery, with its history is deeply rooted in tin mining. The community is only a few miles from the ocean and close to several lovely beaches as well as the south-west coastal route. The picturesque seaside village of Mevagissey, with its ferry over the bay to Fowey, is a short distance away and offers lots to see and do.
