Mr Day
December 2017
Having had an issue with cleanliness at these properties previously I specifically enquired before booking on availability of hoover, mop, dustpan & brush as have previously had to fully clean a neighbouring property (same group) on arrival, I had been assured the housekeeping would be improved & prior to this booking the facilities provided.. On arrival the property was filthy, sticky floor, grit & sand all over floor, grit on one bed. (I have photos If you wish) Unsatisfactory in itself (especially as a repeat incedent) but to then find no cleaning facilities...unnacceptable. On reading the in property info it was found these items would only be available 2 times a week from ‘the shed’. On complaint through Sykes contact was made with the house keeper to deliver a hoover....24hrs later (muddy Hoover left on top of our slippers).
Having 2 young children it is expected that a property is sufficiently clean to allow them to use toys along the floor in the first place, it would also not be uncommon for spillages to happen & need to be cleared up by us along the way. The property has clearly not had the floor cleaned for some time, & even though, at our own cost we went & bought mop & bucket to clean (unacceptable) I could still not get it to the level where I was comfortable allowing them bare foot. I now have 2 sets of ruined suede slippers from the dirt picked up!
The table cloth also was so dirty when I wiped a dishcloth to clean it the cloth was black! I have removed it & left in the cupboard as I would not let my children eat off it.
Suffice to say, it ruined our stay, so much so we left a night early not being able to face a New Year’s Eve sitting on sticky sofas. the overall general standard of the property has also significantly deteriorated from prior visits (neighbouring property) the Windows leaking. I accept these properties are basic, but hygiene level of cleanliness should not be something I have to fight for & I should not have to pack my own hoover! We will not be returning.
Feedback is about the property, not the Sykes experience.
