Mrs Willgoose
January 2019
Only booked 6 nights instead of 7, annoyingly told a £30 admin charge would be incurred to change booking to include another night (Thurs 24th).. Would have been better to honour it, but then everybody charges for everything nowadays, so that was my very first impression of Hideaways - could potentially be more accommodating for their valued customer, especially if they are to return.
First impressions of cottage are it's beautiful and cosy, a nice touch with clotted cream scones and flowers. Bought anthracite for fire as none provided, left some for next holidaymaker to use. Under beds in main bedroom not cleaned very thoroughly (hairballs and dust). Perhaps it would a good idea to provide something to read, ideas of what to do, vouchers, booklets about Cornwall, decent map/s, eating places etc. A 'Please Mind Your Head' notice would be a good idea on the upstairs balcony and French doors to the conservatory. Underfloor heating in kitchen awesome, the kitchen door lets in quite a draft when it's windy outside - perhaps a heavy curtain across might alleviate this. Views awesome. TV good with Sky, which can drop off sometimes (together with telephone signals which are notoriously bad in Cornwall). Sofas are not the most comfortable for 4 people to relax on.
The quaintness and charm of the cottage together with the décor and overall cleanliness and views of sea and St Michael's Mount are the things that I would recommend most, together with the log fire. It's a cosy and welcoming cottage with parking included and it is perfect for a short family break.
