The Byre is a lovely semi-detached barn conversion, set on a rural farmstead surrounded by countryside, 1 mile from the town of Lostwithiel and close to the harbour town of Fowey. Sleeping 2 adults in one bedroom, with separate shower room, the barn has an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and seating area with a wood burning stove. Outside there is a patio equipped with furniture and BBQ and communal lawns to enjoy. There is parking for two cars. The Byre is an excellent choice for a couple. Two well behaved pets welcome. Sorry, cats are not allowed.

A pretty riverside town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid picturesque woodlands and valleys, Lostwithiel is known as a centre for the antiques trade where time can be lost whilst browsing its curio and lifestyle shops that line the interesting streets. The town also boasts a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. The maritime town of Fowey, popular with sailing enthusiasts is within easy driving distance, as it the popular coastal destinations of Mevagissey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants. Lanhydrock House and gardens is just 3 miles away, while other places to visit include Boconnoc House, and the world famous Eden Project. For days on the beach, the long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of Newquay and the Atlantic coast attract families and surfers year round.

Can not fault our stay in Byre cottage. The location was perfect, the cottage was exactly as it looks on the website, exceptionally clean, comfortable and had everything we needed to cater for ourselves. Ed and Nicky are perfect host. The cream tea, bottle of wine and lovely fresh flowers on arrival were very much appreciated. Looking to book again for next year so would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely cottage in perfect setting.. The owners and their pets are wonderful. The cream tea and wine on arrival was very welcoming too. I have already told friends and family what a lovely place it is to stay. Also very central to I visit all parts of Cornwall. Perfect location. We really hope to be able to return in the future.

A very well appointed cottage that more than met our expectations.. Our dog was also made very welcome with very few restrictions on where she could roam. We'd certainly return there when an opportunity arises.

First there was the major mix up over the booking which took far too long to resolve; including your staff using a mobile number when asked to use our landline.. AND not getting back to us as arranged. Then we asked for single beds and on arrival the Byre owner and I had to change the zip link bed around to two singles.

Everything we needed was supplied, lovely peaceful rural surroundings but only 4 minutes by car from the town at the bottom of the hill.. Very clean and comfortable, a perfect base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
