Area
Gunnislake is a small settlement on the Tamar River. There are pubs and shops. The settlement is one end of the picturesque Tamar Valley Railway, which runs to Plymouth. Dartmoor, south and north coast beaches, and Cornwall's extreme west are all nearby. Tavistock, with its pannier market, bars, and restaurants, and Calstock, known for its crafts and festivals, are nearby. The Donkey Sanctuary and Cotehele House and Gardens (NT) are 10 minutes apart. Enjoy a play of golf at St Mellion (8 miles), visit the restored Victorian mining community at Morwellham Quay (4 miles), look for otters and deer along the Tamar Valley pathway, or visit the National Trust owned Lydford Gorge. Why not take the Tamar Valley Railway to Plymouth and visit the Marine Aquarium or Plymouth Hoe?
