Holiday home
Groom Cottage is a wonderful holiday home near Bude, in Poughill, a short drive from Cornwall's Heritage Coast. The property is set on the site of Trevalgas Farm Cottages and shares a 40' swimming pool with the other cottage there. The property can accommodate four people in two double bedrooms, one on the ground floor with doors opening onto a sitting area on a balcony, plus one upstairs with an en-suite WC and beautiful views. You will also find the family bathroom on the first floor. The kitchen and dining area are set within an open plan living space, two steps up from the sitting area, and two steps lead down from the sitting area to a conservatory, which follows out into the garden where you'll find a lawn, outdoor furniture and a barbecue. There is off road parking for two cars. In a lovely spot for touring the coastline, Groom Cottage is an ideal holiday base for all.

Two bedrooms: 1 x double with en-suite basin and WC, 1 x double. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting areas with electric coal-effect fire. Conservatory. Shared use of external laundry, games room and 40ft indoor heated swimming pool with changing rooms and shower.

Area
On the North coast of Cornwall, close to the border with Devon, Bude is a popular resort, with famous beaches attracting surfers throughout the year. Miles of golden sand await, with rockpools and a seawater swimming pool, as well as a golf course, river, canal and access to the South West Coastal Path. Within easy reach of Bude are the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Tintagel and Crackington Haven.

Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, shared use of laundry with washing machines and tumble dryers, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Allocated off road parking for 1 car with car park for additional cars approx. 50 yards from cottage, beside pool. Enclosed gardens with patio and furniture. Balcony with furniture. Shared use of indoor heated swimming pool (open 7.45am - 9pm, times vary out of peak season) and games room. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 1.5 miles, pub 5 mins walk. Note: Two steps up to kitchen and dining area, and two steps down to conservatory from sitting area. Note: Due to the split level accommodation and external steps, the cottage is unsuitable for toddlers and guests with limited mobility. Note: This property can only accept week long bookings on Fridays.

On the website photos do not really show clearly the layout of the cottage and garden, a floor plan would help.. The website description led us to believe that the garden was one complete entity when in fact it was split into three seperate entities. In itself this was not a problem for guests, nor would it have been for a small dog. Unfortunately this was not suitable for a large dog like our german short haired pointer and to be fair and in retrospect I should have clarified this with the owner at time of booking. Other than that, the cottage itself and its facilities were good.

Simply stunning! This quirky cottage is beautiful and everything you could wish for. The site itself has some fantastic facilities including a swimming pool, pool table and table tennis table. Close by and within walking distance is a gorgeous pub in Poughill called the Preston Gate Inn which serves good food and entertainment of an evening. I just want to personally thank the owners who were absolutely amazing, supportive and very accommodating to us when I received some sad news prior to our holiday. Thank you so much and we will definitely be back. This place is lovely xx

We had an amazing week in Groom cottage.. The cottage facilities were great it’s a well equipped kitchen, cosy sitting area. The bedrooms were tastefully decorated and beds were comfortable. We made use of the lovely indoor pool every morning. The location was ideally placed to explore Bude, its’ lovely beaches and other coastal locations. We also loved having our Schnauzer with us and the site had ample space to allow him to have a roam around and a sniff! We look forward to a return trip to Groom cottage!

We had a lovely stay at Groom Cottage.. Knowing our dog was joining us Susan was kind enough to suggest some good dog walks that were an alternative to the obvious beach walks. We tried them all out and Bodie seemed to enjoy himself. The facilities at the site are great, we swam most mornings to work off the holiday excesses. We would definitely stay there again.

A beautiful quirky and characterful cottage! We really enjoyed our relaxing break here, we visited outside of the school holidays so it was especially peaceful although it would be great for families at any time. Usually we could only hear birdsong & distant sheep in the mornings and had the lovely swimming pool all to ourselves every day. We would really recommend staying here; the owner left fresh milk, tea and kitchen and bathroom essentials which was really helpful. Stratton & Bude are also nearby and the Preston Gate Inn is particularly worth a visit!

Amazing indoor swimming pool.. Lots of holiday brochures in pool entrance. Enjoyed history of cottage. Welcomed with milk, tea and Cornish biscuits. 3 safe enclosed garden/patio areas for dog to go in. Close to hustle and bustle of Bude and peaceful to return to.

We had a great holiday and the cottage was quaint and clean and exactly what we needed.. We appreciate the organisation of a last minute booking- the host contacted us about the keys and left a warm welcome in terms of a lovely welcome card, milk and biscuits to get us started with a cuppa! Wish we could have stayed longer! The pool and games room was a massive hit with the kids!

We booked Friday to Friday and left on Monday ! The cottage was very small and the stairs was very difficult to negotiate. Also the Television was frankly rubbish ... Finally the yard for our two dogs was very small and we had to travel 15 miles to find a decent wooded area to walk our two Cocker Spaniels.

Groom cottage was a gorgeous quirky property and we had a fab time staying there.. Swimming pool was amazing and we went for a dip most days. The location was an easy 5min drive into Bude for the shops or Crooklet beach which was lovely and perfect for our kids rocks to climb rock pooling and waves to jump in along with sand for digging. Rosie's cafe much better inside and food than the outside would suggest.. only thing missing was a hairdryer in the property so remember to take your own.
