Superb location, the Lodge's aspect put you right at the heart of nature and the overall site itself is very well landscaped / designed, with loads of space around the properties. The main windows look out over a stream and woodland area, we would advise buying bird seed and feeding the multitude of visitors (squirrels, jays, nuthatches, etc etc etc!).
The Lodge is well-equipped, the only additional items we bought were scissors and pint glasses. The heating took a little getting used to, but was absolutely fine once understood. We didn't need to trouble anyone at Sykes / Chartered Oak for anything whilst we were there.
The Old Mill served good quality food but seemed to regularly run out of various dishes and the atmosphere was a little quiet (but we acknowledge it was February and in the midst of Storm Dennis etc!).
Would highly recommend.
