Comfortable and very quiet 2 person accommodation, with great views across the Menai Straits from the upstairs lounge (reached via a spiral staircase).. An ideal base from which to explore Snowdonia, Llandudno and the North Wales coast, the Lleyn Peninsula and Anglesey.
Location view owners very helpful and friendly real home from home
Bins was un emptied, kitchen was dirty, spider webs hanging from the ceiling , bugs in the bed
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, even though the weather was indifferent to say the least.. The accommodation was spacious and well-maintained and we would certainly hope to return. This is our first time booking a Sykes cottage. If they’re all as good as this, you’ll be hearing from us again.
Lovely cosy, well equipped cottage with great views over the Menai Straits.. Very helpful and friendly owners. The spiral stairs upto the lounge may be a bit tight for some visitors. The last 100-200 yards are across a roughish farm track. There is a pathway down to the village shop/ pub but appears rather steep.
Great modern cottage in a beautiful location..
We had a fantastic week at Ysgubor Penrallt - this is a perfect property to explore the superb North Wales area.. The location is excellent and there is a nearby pub (The Garddfon) which does excellent food (booking recommended as it was very busy even in June) - the property has excellent kitchen facilities, eating in is like being at home. The route down to the village is pretty steep but the upside of that is the views over the Menai Strait are stunning. Bed comfortable, shower excellent. The proprietors are friendly and very helpful - we would highly recommend this property and will consider staying there again the future.
This is not a 5 star accommodation in our opinion
Lovely modern cottage with great views.. Convenient to local amenities and surrounding area. Would highly recommend.
This cottage is a bit more expensive than those we usually book.. You are paying for the view and because it is a spacious and bright conversion. The view of the Menai Straights isn't panoramic as the owner's house blocks half of it. The patio would be superb on a warm summers day. The furniture and equipment was adequate. I'm not sure if the antique colour TV was supposed to be a feature or not?
The cottage ist the perfect spot to reach all attractions in the area.. The owners are very friendly.
The cottage is well equiped and there is all you need.
Lovely property, wonderful views and North Wales was a fascinating and lovely area..
We had a very nice break in very peaceful surroundings..
Superb barn conversion.. Fantastic location overlooking menai straits. Ideally positioned to explore North Wales castles and Snowdonia. Owners friendly and very helpful. Excellent restaurant in nearby marina. Excellent food served in local pub.
Beautiful place, owners lovely to deal with, the only negative is the 3pm check in time, the day is half over especially now with the dark nights, but overall a lovely break..
This is a great cottage in an excellent location.. Modern and comfortable living right in the heart of a great place for relaxation or extreme adventure.
We have stopped there on a number of occasions when we have gone to explore North Wales.
The holiday home was fantastic with very good views
Would have been nice if hairdryer was there.. A very good holiday let .
The cottage is well appointed and luxuriously comfortable. The thing that strikes one upon arrival is the magnificent view over the Menai straits into Anglesey. It is breathtaking. The sunsets over Anglesey are spectacular.
An excellent holiday cottage with outstanding views over the Menai straits
Wonderful location. Accommodation perfect.
The cottage surpassed our expectations. We have been in holiday rentals for the past few years, and this property is the best we have stayed in.
The only good thing about this cottage was the view.
We found it had not been cleaned properly throughout, and did not appreciate the 4.30 am wake up call from 40+sheep in the field next to the cottage.
Good sized barn conversation in an elevated position with good views towards Anglesey across the Menai Straits.
The owners are very pleasant and whilst living close by, they do not intrude.
The accommodation is split over two levels and is a two person property.
On the ground floor is a spacious bedroom with patio windows overlooking the view.
Next door is a spacious well equipped kitchen / diner with the same windows & views.
Upstairs is the lounge, accessed from the kitchen by a spiral staircase.
The staircase is quite steep and has polished wood treads. Take care or you could easily loose your footing.
Downstairs on the other side of the kitchen is the bathroom. this was a bit of a let down as it is very compact, could have done with being another two foot wider. I see no reason why they could not have made it wider as there is extra space in an empty room at the end of the property that the owner seems to use as a storage area, if fact it was larger than the bathroom.
Whilst the property was clean and reasonably equipped, it does miss the extra touches to warrant the 5 star rating that Sykes give the property.
There was no welcome pack, not even a pint of milk.
The only TV in the property was in the upstairs lounge and it took a little while to get used to using the two remotes needed to get a picture.
A TV on the wall in the kitchen / dining area would have been a bonus.
Wheelchair Users - Whilst there is wheelchair access to the bedroom from outside, and from there into the kitchen / dining room, the bathroom would be out of bounds unless you could walk in.
The property is quite high up and the walk to the village shop & pub is only recommended for the fittest of people. It is exceedingly steep so be warned - better to take the car or get a taxi if you are going to the pub.
There is little choice for eating out in the area, so be prepared to travel or eat in.
The property is however conveniently situated for exploring Anglesey, Snowdonia, The Llyn Peninsular and beyond.
Would we return? Well maybe, but there are much more comfortable properties available in the area and especially over in Anglesey.
A clean comfortable property which was well maintained.
This was a beautiful property set in magnificent surroundings, with easy access to all facilities. We booked this to have quality undisturbed time; this is easily achieved here and the owners are welcoming and offer help with anything if needed.
Ysgubor Penrallt was comfortable and well equipped for a self catering break. The location is excellent, providing stunning views over the Menai Strait. It is also ideally situated to explore Anglesey, Snowdonia and the northwest coastline.
Fantastically located cottage, exceptionally clean and tidy with brilliant views over the Menai.
Perfectly located cottage. We stayed here on our honeymoon and will definitely be returning. The cottage has beautiful views and is exceptionally clean.
Location was very good for accessing all the sights we wished to visit. Y Sgubor Penrallt was quiet with lovely views and an overall modern vibe.
A lovely cottage which was very clean and warm. The cottage was situated in a great location with good views of the Menai Strait, well located as a touring base. We enjoyed a relaxing holiday.
The cottage was wonderful. It was clean, warm, comfortable and most important, relaxing. We would recommend the cottage without hesitation.
The best cottage we have ever stayed in. Plenty to see and do within 20 miles and all the main supermarkets within 5 miles. Views to die for and time permitting we will definitely do a return visit. Never relaxed so much on a holiday!
The best holiday cottage we have stayed at. Well planned accomodation .Provided everything needed for a restful holiday. Also provided lots of opportunities for walks both adventurous and gentle.
Comfortable funiture and beautiful views.
The elevated position afforded views across to Anglesey from both the cottage and the patio. The barn conversion and the fittings and furnishings were of a high quality and made for an enjoyable stay.
One minor downside of the elevated position is that you will probably need the car to get anywhere, particularly if elderly.
The patio overlooks the owners garden which has a play area equipped with a trampoline etc. for their children. We found them to be well behaved and reasonably quiet but it might spoil the romantic setting for some, or at least remind them of the consequences!
The owners were unobstrusive, but on hand if you needed them.
Beautifully appointed cottage with outstanding views over the Menai Straits to Anglesey. Comfortably furnished and homely. The owners who lived next to the cottage were kindly disposed and approachable; they met our every need.
This was a fabulous cottage with fantastic views. It was really well equipped and the owner was very pleasant.
The cottage was well placed for many places of interest. The views were splendid an ever changing view of Anglesey.
Friendly and helpful owner. Great location for easy access to Bangor and Anglesey. Good parking and access. Lovely views. Very warm, comfortable cottage. The wi-fi broadband worked well.
It was a great and comfortable base for exploring Snowdonia. The area was peaceful, yet close enough to supermarkets and retail outlets to make it a practical and relaxing holiday. The owner was very helpful and on hand if needed, but never intrusive. The cottage was clean, bright and fresh, with lovely views from every room. We loved this cottage and the area!
This was one of the best holiday cottages we have rented. The owners were very helpful. The views from all the rooms are wonderful.
Every thing about this cottage is top class including the zig zag approach road
, the spiral staircase to the lounge, the marvellous views, the peace and quiet, the friendly caring owners, the attentive service, the comprehensive amenities, the comfortable furniture, the free internet service
a pure delight .
The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. Plenty of places to visit.
This is an excellent property and the views are fantastic.
The standard and layout of the property are excellent and its location and views absolutely wonderful. The sunsets from any of the many windows are absolutely amazing. There can't be many places where you can witness such beauty whilst eating your supper!
A very well equipped cottage in fantastic location.
Peace and quiet with good views. Lovely property and we would definitely book again, maybe next time in the summer season.
Good central location, clean, quiet with good views from both patio dining area and bedroom. A good base for visiting Anglesey and Snowdonia.
Very luxurious property with all fittings of the highest quality. Superb view from every room and the patio area. Spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was quite compact, compared to the rest of the property, but quite adequate. Very good centre to visit the beaches of anglesey/Lleyn and the mountains of Snowdonia. Superstore only 5 mins away by car. Walking into town for local services is only for the very enthusiastic - expect nobody does this twice! That's why it has such a good view, and is so quiet and private.
A lot of time and thought has gone into making this an ideal holiday retreat.
It is in a very peaceful place with marvellous views over the Menai Straits.
Superb views. Excellent decor, quality of all fixtures and fittings. Friendly owners. Very clean, generally well equipped.
we had a wonderful stay, and every thing about the cottage was top notch, location and views supurb, and owner was very helpful
The location and view from the property were stunning and the owners were very accommodating.
A really stylish property and we were able to access everywhere we wanted to go.
Very high standard cottage with a fantastic view.
A beautiful location ideal for visiting local places of interest. Stunning view over the Menai Straits. Perfect for 2 people. Property of a very high standard with helpful owners close by.
A very comfortable cottage but lacked any personal or warm touches. It was well equipped but rather functional. There was no 'welcome pack' of any kind not even a small jug of milk or a tea bag. We did leave a few basics behind for next visitors. It was, however, a lovely location and excellent barn conversion.
Having good accommodation, is the key to having a good holiday. The cottage was excellent, the owners were friendly. A lovely quiet area, with great views over the Menai Straits. Highlight has to be climbing mount Snowdon. Views to die for.
The cottage was to a very high quality specification which was matched by the brilliant views over the Menai Straits. Well located for Snowdonia, Lleyn Peninsula and Anglesey. The owners were friendly and helpful.
The quality of the accommodation and the views from the same. Proximity to Snowdonia with access to many attractions.
The cottage was a very good base for exploring Snowdon Anglesey. Shops and restaurants were very close if you didn't want to do to much driving. We had a really great time and would love to go back!
A beautiful property finished to excellent standards with fantastic views across the Menai Straits.
The views from the cottage were magnificent, plenty of room to park the car and the recent introduction of wi-fi was an added bonus.
The cottage was bright, airy and modern. It had been cleaned to a high standard and provided all that we needed. The additional directions given by the owner were helpful and we were warmly greeted on arrival.
The property was very well appointed and had fantastic views over the Menai Straits. It was ideal for a couple and we would like to visit again.
The house was excellant.
Wish it was a little nearer to the local pub although in summer probably wouldnt matter.
A great place to stay, so refreshing to have a modern, contemporary 'home from home'. We thoroughly recommend it.
The location was excellent with fantastic views. The property was very well equipped and decorated to a high standard.
The fantastic views from the property and the location in the area with lots to see and do (even on wet days).
The decor and furnishings were straight out of a magazine - perfect! The location was great, with gorgeous views, and close to many attractions.
Together with warm hosts - this is the perfect getaway, and we will definitely return!! Highly recommended - Thank You!
We had a fantastic time and cannot praise our cottage enough. We were sorry to leave. Thank you!
