Comfortable and very quiet 2 person accommodation, with great views across the Menai Straits from the upstairs lounge (reached via a spiral staircase).. An ideal base from which to explore Snowdonia, Llandudno and the North Wales coast, the Lleyn Peninsula and Anglesey.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, even though the weather was indifferent to say the least.. The accommodation was spacious and well-maintained and we would certainly hope to return. This is our first time booking a Sykes cottage. If they’re all as good as this, you’ll be hearing from us again.

Lovely cosy, well equipped cottage with great views over the Menai Straits.. Very helpful and friendly owners. The spiral stairs upto the lounge may be a bit tight for some visitors. The last 100-200 yards are across a roughish farm track. There is a pathway down to the village shop/ pub but appears rather steep.

Great modern cottage in a beautiful location..

We had a fantastic week at Ysgubor Penrallt - this is a perfect property to explore the superb North Wales area.. The location is excellent and there is a nearby pub (The Garddfon) which does excellent food (booking recommended as it was very busy even in June) - the property has excellent kitchen facilities, eating in is like being at home. The route down to the village is pretty steep but the upside of that is the views over the Menai Strait are stunning. Bed comfortable, shower excellent. The proprietors are friendly and very helpful - we would highly recommend this property and will consider staying there again the future.

Lovely modern cottage with great views.. Convenient to local amenities and surrounding area. Would highly recommend.

This cottage is a bit more expensive than those we usually book.. You are paying for the view and because it is a spacious and bright conversion. The view of the Menai Straights isn't panoramic as the owner's house blocks half of it. The patio would be superb on a warm summers day. The furniture and equipment was adequate. I'm not sure if the antique colour TV was supposed to be a feature or not?

Beautiful place, owners lovely to deal with, the only negative is the 3pm check in time, the day is half over especially now with the dark nights, but overall a lovely break..

The only good thing about this cottage was the view. We found it had not been cleaned properly throughout, and did not appreciate the 4.30 am wake up call from 40+sheep in the field next to the cottage.

July 2015
Good sized barn conversation in an elevated position with good views towards Anglesey across the Menai Straits. The owners are very pleasant and whilst living close by, they do not intrude. The accommodation is split over two levels and is a two person property. On the ground floor is a spacious bedroom with patio windows overlooking the view. Next door is a spacious well equipped kitchen / diner with the same windows & views. Upstairs is the lounge, accessed from the kitchen by a spiral staircase. The staircase is quite steep and has polished wood treads. Take care or you could easily loose your footing. Downstairs on the other side of the kitchen is the bathroom. this was a bit of a let down as it is very compact, could have done with being another two foot wider. I see no reason why they could not have made it wider as there is extra space in an empty room at the end of the property that the owner seems to use as a storage area, if fact it was larger than the bathroom. Whilst the property was clean and reasonably equipped, it does miss the extra touches to warrant the 5 star rating that Sykes give the property. There was no welcome pack, not even a pint of milk. The only TV in the property was in the upstairs lounge and it took a little while to get used to using the two remotes needed to get a picture. A TV on the wall in the kitchen / dining area would have been a bonus. Wheelchair Users - Whilst there is wheelchair access to the bedroom from outside, and from there into the kitchen / dining room, the bathroom would be out of bounds unless you could walk in. The property is quite high up and the walk to the village shop & pub is only recommended for the fittest of people. It is exceedingly steep so be warned - better to take the car or get a taxi if you are going to the pub. There is little choice for eating out in the area, so be prepared to travel or eat in. The property is however conveniently situated for exploring Anglesey, Snowdonia, The Llyn Peninsular and beyond. Would we return? Well maybe, but there are much more comfortable properties available in the area and especially over in Anglesey.

August 2014
The elevated position afforded views across to Anglesey from both the cottage and the patio. The barn conversion and the fittings and furnishings were of a high quality and made for an enjoyable stay. One minor downside of the elevated position is that you will probably need the car to get anywhere, particularly if elderly. The patio overlooks the owners garden which has a play area equipped with a trampoline etc. for their children. We found them to be well behaved and reasonably quiet but it might spoil the romantic setting for some, or at least remind them of the consequences! The owners were unobstrusive, but on hand if you needed them.
Mr Whitington

It was a great and comfortable base for exploring Snowdonia. The area was peaceful, yet close enough to supermarkets and retail outlets to make it a practical and relaxing holiday. The owner was very helpful and on hand if needed, but never intrusive. The cottage was clean, bright and fresh, with lovely views from every room. We loved this cottage and the area!

December 2012
Very luxurious property with all fittings of the highest quality. Superb view from every room and the patio area. Spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was quite compact, compared to the rest of the property, but quite adequate. Very good centre to visit the beaches of anglesey/Lleyn and the mountains of Snowdonia. Superstore only 5 mins away by car. Walking into town for local services is only for the very enthusiastic - expect nobody does this twice! That's why it has such a good view, and is so quiet and private.

May 2012
A very comfortable cottage but lacked any personal or warm touches. It was well equipped but rather functional. There was no 'welcome pack' of any kind not even a small jug of milk or a tea bag. We did leave a few basics behind for next visitors. It was, however, a lovely location and excellent barn conversion.
Mrs Reaney
