I booked this cottage that advertises sleeps 4 people with 2 bedrooms. I booked this in the names of 2 people and 2 small dogs. I was told by Sykes cottages to call the owner 48 hours before the booking to arrange key collection, as I was busy finishing work etc I called 24 hours before. I was asked who was staying at the cottage and I said my son and his girlfriend would be joining us for 2 nights. I was then very abruptly asked if they were bringing their sleeping bags and towels as the second bedroom would not be made up due to 2 people on the booking. I said no they wouldn’t and then I was told how extremely fortunate I was that someone could go and make up beds in the second bedroom. I paid for 2 bedrooms in a cottage with NO reduction for only 2 people using this. I have been to several Sykes cottage bookings and all beds have automatically been made up regardless of how many people are staying. It is very presumptuous for the owner to think we would not want our own room with only 2 of us staying. This did take the shine off our break before we had even got there. There are also chickens and a very noisy cockerel by the second bedroom which caused very poor sleep. There were no recycling bins and we had to make several journeys down to the bins in the village of caemes to dispose of our rubbish. On a positive point, the cottage was very spacious, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. You are also asked to strip all beds and mattress protectors, dispose of your rubbish and leave it as you found it. We are very house proud people and we left everything immaculate, but all in all found the above all hard going. Despite the lovely spotless property we would not return.

A beautiful cottage/ barn conversion.. Very clean & well equipped. Information in the cottage as to the whereabouts of the footpaths to a) the coastal path & b) Cemaes bay would have been helpful as despite our OS maps etc we were unable to find them, even though the cottage description describes them as being accessible from the cottage. The only drawback for us was that we had to drive each evening to restaurant or pub to eat. We prefer to be able to walk otherwise a lovely relaxing holiday.

A very comfortable stay during Storm Dennis.. Warm and cosy atmosphere with little extras we were not expecting. View from the bedroom was stunning, with sheep and rabbits outside the enclosed garden. Beautiful walks and stunning beaches we are in love with Angelsea . A perfect place for a rest or a more energetic pursuits.

We loved this cottage, exceptionally clean and very warm.. It was perfect for us and our 2 dogs. In the middle of nowhere, 30 mins walk to the nearest village, Cemaes, and only 10 mins walk away from the coastal path and the sea. Great that it had WiFi. Lovely bedrooms with fantastic views and very comfy beds. It wasn’t a problem for us, as we stayed in November, but the nearby chickens and cockerel could give you an early wake up call! Enjoyed our visits to The Harbour Hotel in Cemaes, very dog friendly with delicious food and great views.

The central heating had to be used manually.. No recycling information. It would feel more cosy if it had curtains in the bedrooms and some rugs on the floors. Otherwise could not fault it as everything we wanted was there. We would go back if it was Saturday to Saturday.

This was second visit to Ysgubor Newydd.. It's a very special place, comfortable, smart accommodation with wonderful views. Ideally situated for coastal walks. The Harbour Hotel in Cemaes serves lovely food and there are two excellent cafes. The Stag was not open when we visited and the chip shop is good but not always open. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful spot, all self catering bits and bobs thought of - far enough away to feel like a break from it all but close enough to beautiful "secret" bays and a walk to the near local and friendly village to keep entertained.. I agree with some other reviewers that the open plan bit doesn't really work as a "lounge" with the set up of TV and sofas but we didn't really watch TV anyway so not an issue for us - comfy enough to read books. Overall we liked the feeling of space. WiFi was great so the kids were happy and my son spent his time lounging on the bean bags in the mezzanine happy as anything! NB: The listing states hot tub there is no hot tub?

This is one of the best-equipped cottages we've stayed in.. The owners have taken a lot of care to provide for their visitors' needs and comforts. We loved the peaceful location too, with its easy access to the coastal path. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful holiday.. The owner’s directions were really helpful. The cottage wonderful, it is in a fabulous location of natural beauty, equipped with everything you could need. We loved the open plan layout & modern facilities, just like home from home. We had great walks on our doorstep. Great beaches for our dogs to explore. We would definitely recommend cottage to family & friends. Many thanks again.

We had a lovely week away with our two huskies.. The cottage was very well equipped and everything we had forgotten was provided. Relaxing break surrounded by nature, 20 minute walk via a quite country lane to the bay, dog friendly pub there too. Just what we needed, a week to recharge.

February 2019
This is a lovely cottage in a fantastic location.. It was warm, comfortable and very well equipped. We walked from the cottage to the coastal path several times - very dramatic coastline on the Northern part of the island. I would recommend this cottage for anyone wanting to stay in a more remote spot - we would love to return!
Mrs Mercer, February 2019

Fantastic cottage.. Clearly renovated with self catering in mind. We could not think of anything we would have liked to see in or about the cottage. Wonderful break. Course we did have a summer in February!!

January 2019
Cottages was in a place of outstanding beauty, Very well equipped, beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms Very clean The kitchen/dinner/lounge was very disappointing, it was described as being open plan, but it was more like sitting in a large kitchen.. The two sofas were very uncomfortable, they had been changed from the ones in the photo. The room would of benefited from a rug on the floor to give if a feeling of warmth There was very little information given on local walks from the cottage Also it was the first cottage that did not include a welcome gift and I've been to many cottages

Just got home, from having a lovely holiday, the cottage is beautifully situated in the heart of the countryside and within a stone's throw of the coastal walks and a wonderful beach, the cottage itself is fully equipped with everything you need to stay, my dog had a wonderful weak with no restrictions to running and chasing rabbits through the gorse and heather, knowing full well she had no chance of catching one, well me and my wife and Freya our dog have just booked again in September 2019.. that's how much we enjoyed it, Nigel, Allison, and Freya our Dog,

This is a lovely cottage , set in a beautiful landscape.. The cottage was clean and equipped to a very high standard. It was let down a little by the uncomfortable couches and the very bad WiFi connection (or lack of it). We would certainly visit again as the island is beautiful.
Mr Evans, September 2018

Loved this cottage and would definitely recommend/return .. Initial contact with owners completely put my mind to rest with directions and local knowledge . If you are looking for a peaceful break where the children adults and dogs can be at one with outside and completely relax then this is definitely one I would reccomemnd the dogs had fabulous walks on the doorstep and the doggy friendly part of beach at camaes was a hit too , highlights were local village, holyhead museum ( fantastic people) puffin island cruise , beaches and coastal paths galore ! Loved it and will hope to come again :)

Perfect location ideal for exploring the stunning coastal path.. The cottage is lovely, very comfortable and spacious. Such a peaceful setting with wonderful views. We ate lunch at the Harbour Hotel in Cemaes Bay a couple of times, the food was excellent and the staff very friendly. We were unable to eat at The Stag Inn as they were on winter opening times during our holiday. The cafes in Cemaes are very good and the fish and chips shop is excellent. We loved the cottage and have already booked for next year.

The house is stunningly beautiful the problem lies with sykes accuracy of the listing.. Took my elderly mum who struggled with the six extended concrete steps outside the front door.there are two entrance gates to the house on arrival took the right gate and almost got stuck in a field as the listing states keep to the right.the drive up to the house on the lane was very long and quite steep would not liked to of visited here without a four wheel drive car in the winter months. On the plus side would visit again as the house was perfect just the misleading listing issues
