Holiday home
Ysgubor Las is a barn conversion close to the town of Dolgellau, just eight miles from Fairbourne. The cottage sleeps four people in one double bedroom, one twin, together with family shower room. Also in the cottage is an open pan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with electric stove and sofa bed. Outside is off road parking for four cars and a private lawned garden with patio and furniture. Situated in the heart of southern Snowdonia, Ysgubor Las is a lovely family holiday cottage all year round.

Accomodation Details
Two ground floor bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin. Ground floor shower room with shower, basin and WC. First floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with sofa bed (for use by a child only), electric stove and balcony. Ground floor conservatory with TV. Starting from 2023, the owner is happy for guests to bring their horses to the property, Facilities such as stables, a riding school and hacking facilities will be provided. Area
This small, beautiful market town is located in the heart of southern Snowdonia, between the imposing Cader Idris mountain range and the sea. It’s a superb base for a holiday - perfect for combining the many outdoor pursuits on offer in Snowdonia with relaxing days out on the soft sandy beaches of Barmouth, Fairbourne and Aberdovey. The town itself offers a good selection of shops, five pubs and a wine bar, along with a number of excellent restaurants, cafes and two bakeries, that produce fresh bread and cakes each day. Dolgellau is home to over 200 listed buildings, allegedly the highest concentration in the whole of Wales, and the town is also a designated 'cycle break centre' boasting a range of dedicated cycle routes all around the area.

We have just returned from 3 weeks at Ysgubor las.. The cottage is lovely, the location is perfect for a peaceful holiday, and in the current situation very safe. Really didn’t want to leave. Ysgubor Las is a really terrific holiday let.. Very comfortable, well-equipped, and in a great location - beautiful setting, isolated, but within easy reach of Dolgellau and the main road. We stayed for a few days in winter, during which Storm Jorge blew through: despite the gale-force winds and heavy rain, we didn’t feel a hint of a draught or cold. The bedrooms are comfortable, and the conservatory is a rock-solid construction, impermeable to wind and rain and full of light even on very stormy days. Would love to come back for a longer stay.

We enjoyed our week at Ysgubor Las.. First impressions were very positive, the location is absolutely beautiful and the cottage has some wonderful panoramic views of the area. We met the owners on arrival and found them very friendly and helpful. The cottage itself is excellent, a bit more spacious than I was expecting and manages to retain some of the building's original character despite feeling modern and well built. The upstairs balcony is a particularly nice touch. The view from there is fabulous and it is a great place to sit and relax on a sunny day. The bedrooms are a good size and the open plan living area upstairs is also bigger than you might expect from the photos, comfortable and well equipped. My only complaint was the mattress in the main bedroom which was very soft, felt quite uncomfortable and I did miss my own bed! Different people like different mattresses however, so this is a minor complaint. Dolgellau and the surrounding area is very beautiful with lots of things to do and this cottage was an ideal base for our holiday. We have now spent many years taking self catering holidays in the UK and this is one of the best cottages we have visited.

Ysgubor Las far exceeds any other cottage we have stayed in.. Simply put, it is fantastic! It is warm, comfortable and very well- equipped. The location is incredible with far reaching views from every angle. Richard and Laura are the most wonderful hosts and give of their time freely whilst running a sheep farm and bringing up a young family. We shall find it difficult to find anywhere else to stay like Ysgubor Las. ( Perhaps that's why we have already rebooked!)

We loved the wonderful accommodation and the amazing changing scenery provided by the very comfortable conservatory, with sheep wondering over the hills what could be nicer.. Ysgubar Las is in an extremely good location for visiting many places. On Christmas Day we strolled along the beach at Harlech. The owners Laura and Richard and children are extremely welcoming always making sure that everything is fine, and we cannot wait to return. Thank you Judy and Peter Creed

This beautiful converted barn is in a stunning location, surrounded by mountains and farmland. The cottage is very comfortable, warm and very well appointed. The onwers were very friendly. Ideal for walking or visiting the nearby coast. One of the best self catering properties we have stayed in.

This is the best rental cottage I have stayed in anywhere in the UK.. The owners have done a magnificent job in modernizing this old barn. They have managed to keep the old features in tact while fitting it out to the highest specification. The accommodation has everything you need for your stay from a well appointed kitchen to a luxury bathroom. The house is spotlessly clean and maintained to the highest standard. The owners Richard and Laura are the nicest people you could have as hosts. They took time out of there extremely busy farming schedule to ensure everything was just right for us. The couple have a fantastic knowledge of the Snowdonia area and are only to happy to assist you in any way they can to ensure you have a comfortable stay. This is a superb cottage in a fantastic location and I would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone.

Incredible! I’m writing this on the last night of my stay in this beautiful barn. My mum and I could not have wished for a better place to stay. The setting is idyllic - the views are breathtaking and it is so peaceful. There are many spectacular walks right on the doorstep. We walked from the door to the pony track right up to the summit of Cader Idris. The owners are ever so helpful and friendly. We will be recommending to everyone.

The accommodation was fabulous, great views over the surrounding countryside.. It was very nice being able to sit on the balcony and drink our wine, or just sit and relax in the conservatory and read. With plenty of places to visit in the area it made a very enjoyable week.

The location is stunning. If you welcome peace and quiet you will not be disappointed at all. The cottage has been very thoughtfully renovated from an old barn and the owners, Richard and Laura have thought of everything. Upside down living with a balcony giving fabulous views over open countryside. A large conservatory for if the weather is inclement (it was spectacularly so on one day) Everything is finished to a very high standard and nothing has been missed. Richard and Laura made us very welcome (from the welcome pack onwards) and were on hand at all times if we needed them. We have 'self-catered' for over 30 years and this cottage has net been bettered in all that time. We will certainly be back !

The cottage was much better than we anticipated , the pictures don't do it justice , it has the feel of a very remote location with stunning views, that isn't miles and miles from a main road .. Whilst in the cottage we lived in the conservatory ,we read, watched films and watched nothing go by..... ideal and just what we wanted as an early year break . Great help and advice from the owners ,plus a really nice touch , we arrived very late in the dark , and to see the outside area lit up made it much more special. We rarely return to any holiday cottage, this I think will be an exception.

This is a newly converted old farm building in a spectacular location with beautiful views. The conversion has been done to an exceptional standard and with nice touches designed to make the experience of staying there very pleasant. Unlike many holiday cottages, the kitchen was a pleasure to use and was well equipped with lots of new knives. The owners are a very pleasant couple indeed. They are 'people people' and nothing was too much trouble.
