It was a lovely barn coversion with interesting original features.. Very nicely furnished and decorated with comfortable beds. Brilliant hot tub! Very nice setting with views of the hills, and the stream just outside. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Small points: there were several serious coffee drinkers in our group who were disappointed by the lack of a cafetiere. And a first aid kit would have been useful when my husband cut himself with a vegetable knife. There were lots of towels which was great with the hot tub - more teatowels would have been useful.

We loved our break here for Christmas.. The rooms are a great sizeand well catered for . Immaculately clean . Liz met us upon arrival, lovely lady and her husband took us around there working farm and showed us a farmers life . We loved it . The views are amazing, id say even breath taking . The hot tub was a welcomed treat . Only downside is a very small kitchen to cook and serve for 7 people but we managed. Kitchen has everything from percolators to hand blenders they really have thought of everything. We will be rebooking . Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful Ysgubor.

The owners were very welcoming and friendly and they really do need to be congratulated on presenting a cottage that was full of character, the renovated barn maintained and incorporated some of the original beams into the build.. 2 of the bedrooms and the main sitting area have high ceilings that add character and depth to the rooms. The wood burner was another welcomed functional feature. During our stay we burned the firewood on the colder nights. The cottage is very cosy, helped by the fact that the thermostat is set at an optimal temperature making the ambient temperature within the cottage comfortable. I'm sure the owners would help out if the temperature needed adjusting on the thermostat. The cottage is located on a working farm, and the physical location of the cottage in the foothills of the Berwyn mountains with the river Ceiriog flowing by the cottage adds to the peace and serenity. There is a part of the river which flows by quite fast and the sound of the flowing fast water is serene. The views from the cottage are amazing. The farmland incorporates mountains and valleys, if you were to stay in the cottage all day there are at least 3 walks that can be done: one along the river Ceiriog through the valley along the mountain pass to a series of waterfalls. Another walk can be done in the opposite direction along the river towards the village and another walk can be done ascending the mountains. During our stay we didn't need to travel very far to visit places of interest, I think the most we travelled was 16 miles. We managed to visit the following attractions: Pistyll Rhaeadr, Chirk Castle and Pontycysyllte Aqueduct. Other than these attractions we did local walks from within the cottage site. During our stay, we got groceries delivered to our cottage using a renowned supermarket. If we needed to top up on anything we went to a village Spar about 3 miles away. The hot tub was a great welcomed facility at the cottage. Was lovely to wind down and relax in the hot tub whilst observing the stars, the silhouettes of the montain peaks and the soothing sound of the river Ceiriog flowing by after a long day of activity or walking. I usually like staying at different cottages, but I think I would come back here again. The owners, the actual cottage, facilities of the cottage and natural surroundings were great. Me and my family had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Liz was very welcoming and was around if needed.. The cottage is beautiful and the views are amazing. There are walks from the door and Llangollen is a short drive away, where there are plenty of shops, a canal walk and quaint cafes. A great time was had by all, we would highly recommended this cottage.

We had a lovely family weekend.. initially I thought it might be too cold to use the hot tub as we went in February but it was lovely, we even used it at night. The only negative would be that it can get quite cold once the heating goes off so take your own heater. At 8 in the evening my bedroom was freezing but apart from this it was all great. Loved waking up to the sounds of the stream running outside my window

Great weekend beautiful setting .. Great facilities . Owners may want to consider how to make decking area around hot tub safer. It is so slippy . Also entrance into kitchen when wet is slippy. May need to consider more purposeful flooring. May be update on what equipment is available in the cottage . Tea towels , tea and coffee etc. Great venue lovely owners too very accomadating . Will defo go back . This was my 5th visit

Let me start my saying i typically don't really write reviews, certainly ones they may cause upset. However, on this occasion i don't want anyone else to be mislead by this property or the rating that Sykes Cottages has awarded this property. Whilst this property is set in lovely surroundings, the overall cleanliness of the property was far from 4 'ticks'. I say that because: We truly believe the hot tub had not been drained and cleaned properly prior to our arrival (although the owner has since stated that the 'film and foam' present before even stepping in could be down to the hardening agent). In my own previous experiences of hot tub breaks I have never ever seen a hot tub (that had not been used) with a collection of white foam or greasy film to the surface. In the kitchen there were crumbs in cutlery draws, left over tea bags in mouldy wooden containers, sticky left over spillage marks in one particular cupboard. The extractor fan, wall tiles and bin appeared to be unclean. Whilst the bedrooms were a little dusty the bedding was clean and presented well. However after my mum sat on a dressing table stool that literally collapsed after 1 second I'd suggest that all furniture is checked for health and safety. I have to add, that this incident was reported to the owner straight away and she was genuinely sorry for this. It wasn't replaced straight away as our stay was only for 2 nights and 1 day. If anyone would like to see picture evidence to substantiate my comments above. Please feel free to ask. I have shared these with Sykes who i believe has shared with the owner so I have nothing to hide. I really just want anyone looking to book this property to be be aware of our experience. You can then make an 'informed' opinion before booking. This review is based on my own personal experience, its is not meant to cause offence. Its is based on true facts (of which i have picture evidence) and as a matter of public interest.

We loved the cottage we stayed in with the family - it exceeded all expectations.. The hot tub was the icing on top of the cake, to come back after a day out and relax was perfection!! I will definitely be recommending to friends. To have all the essentials in the cottage made our holiday a lot less stressful.
