Based on the on-line reviews we weren't sure what to expect.. In the end we found a lovely cottage very conveniently located in the town, with a car parking space. It had great views over the river, park and mountains behind. The cottage had everything we could have wanted; it was warm, had all the mod cons and very comfortable. If you want a cottage in a quiet wee hamlet then this isn't the cottage for you. If you want one in a buzzing lakeland town with everything right on your doorstop, then it is. Thanks for a great break!

The proximity to town is a big plus when the weather is a bit iffy.. We loved the large open plan lounge/kitchen upstairs. Also we must praise Sykes for the information made available before and during the time we were there. Will certainly use you guys again next time we are in the Lakes

We enjoyed being in such a central location, as it's the off-season.. The weather was better than the forecast, consistently, which is good. The house was ideally equipped for our stay. Sykes responded instantly in acknowledging minor issues on outstanding maintenance, and ideally the owner will use the off-season to get them fixed, could be done in an hour.

This property could be really very good, but is let down by a few problems, which should be an easy fix.. Firstly, the property was not as clean as we would have expected. The kitchen was very grubby, and needs a thorough deep clean. It could do with some of the cupboards repairing too. The windows in the property were filthy too, spoiling the views it brags about having. Some of the window blinds didn't work properly, especially the main bedroom one, which could not be closed, and it let a lot of light in. But the main problem with this property is the noise. We appreciate it is on a main road, but the windows are inadequate. They need to be at least double glazed, to help with the noise. Even passing pedestrians sounded like they were in the room. Someone previously suggested using ear plugs, which we did, but they are not a perfect solution, and are not something we found comfortable in using. A real shame, because otherwise the location for Keswick and surrounding area is perfect.

My husband and I had the misfortune to book Wrenville at Keswick on the 9th June 2018.. This is the filthiest house we have ever had, it had to be seen to believed I have never been so disgusted in my life. Many many photos were taken of all the muck and mess that was in in the house,. This was supposed to be a high end property at £675 per week, nothing was high end ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I complained to Sykes Cottages and sent all the photos which they agreed was dreadful. The owner would not respond when Sykes tried to contact him, not surprising he’s got his money he doesn’t care. Sykes them selves have been extremely helpful and have resolved this to my satisfaction. It won’t stop my using Sykes as we’ve had many cottages booked through them, just hope they consider not working with this owner and letting him pull down the good reputation Sykes have.

Lovely area, and very well thought out cottage. We paid top price for a cottage for my 60th birthday, we have been to the lakes several times and love it there, so knew the location, and had a lovely time exploring the area, even climbing skiddaw in the rain. However the property, although beautifully modernised was disappointing in its maintenance. The skirting was off in the kitchen and just left lying on the floor, one of the kitchen base cupboards would not shut, the main oven didnt work at all, the fire didnt work and the dvd player was broken.2 of the window blinds were broken, as was the towel rail in the kitchen. The bath was lovely and deep, just right to soak my old bones in, but unfortunately the hot water only ran for a few seconds then turned tepid, so was unable to use the bath at all, by contrast the shower was very hot and I could not find a way of cooling it down. The outdoor seating area is not suitable for sitting out in, as its tiny, and the bins are there, the dustbins had also not been emptied when we got there and were overflowing. A lovely patio set is provided though, and stored in the brilliant utility room. We paid top price as it looked so modern and was in a great area, so it was very disappointing to have so many maintenance issues. We did contact the office mid week, and explain the issues, but whilst they were polite, nothing was done to try to help us. I mentioned the issues, and gave them a written list of the problems when I handed back the key, and I did notice someone going into the property as we were driving away. I received an email saying someone would be in touch with me, but as yet no one has.

The cottage was a perfect size, however the cleanliness was not as one would expect, coffee / tea stains on the bed side cabinets, cooker / toaster needed cleaning out and the bathroom could have had a more deeper clean.. Outdoor area at the back is not really ideal to sit out in Wifi was advertised however there was none, the engineer came to install midway through our holiday, however it was still not working when we left, so very disappointed with that

Unfortunately the maintenance of the property was below expectations.. The property commanded top price as it looks to be of a very high standard, and I was happy to pay the extra as it looked so lovely. Lots of things were broken, including the main cooker, dvd player, fire, and no hot water to the lovely deep bath. The edging under the cupboards in the kitchen had fallen off and was just lying in the kitchen area, 2 window blinds were broken, a towel rail in the kitchen was broken and one of the large kitchen floor cupboards would not stay shut. The dust bins outside were full to overflowing. I did go to the office mid week with a list of problems, and staff were very polite to me, I was expecting to be contacted so that a maintenance person could at least come and see the problems but I wasn't. However I again spoke to the office personnel when I gave back the key, and they did go out to the property straight away. When I got home I did have an email acknowledging my concerns and giving me a named person who was dealing with the issues. The area is amazing, despite the inclement weather we had a lovely visit. We come to the lakes every year as we love it so much, usually staying in much cheaper properties, but as it is my 60th birthday I thought I would go for something more luxurious, so I was rather disappointed, and would not stay in Wrenville again.

Two friends and I stayed at Wrenville for a long weekend in the fells. We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived - the place is much larger than it appears in the photos, and there is ample space for storage of bikes/boots/backpacks etc., not to mention the large upstairs room with kitchen, dinning area and living room. Downstairs are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a utility room (complete with washing machine and tumble dryer). The bathroom is really great - heated floors, power shower and large bath. The beds are comfortable, although the road can be a little noisy. Bring ear plugs if you're a very light sleeper. The windows are double glazed, and the road gets quiet a night so it isn't too bad The upstairs is probably the highlight of the place - one very large and bright room with a large kitchen. The kitchen has all the equipment you'd need to cook, as well as some other things that come in handy (tin foil, washing up liquid, etc.) I'd really recommend staying here. The only complaint: no wifi! This is particularly a problem in Keswick where there is very very limited mobile phone data signal. If there was wifi, I'd say this place is perfect

Just returned from a short stay at this property. The house is lovely in an ideal location for walking, drinking, eating and shopping. Clean and tidy with all the little extras you need. The only reason we would not come back is the street noise at night. On a relatively busy road and could hear traffic a lot through the night and we stayed out of school holidays. Other than that would recommend, maybe just take some earplugs.

Our second stay at Wrenville which was just as good as the first. The cottage is in a great location for visiting Keswick and the Northern lakes. It is ideal for walkers with it's large utility room which is ideal for for storing/drying boots and wet gear if you get caught in the rain (it does occasionally rain in the Lake District!) The house is very comfortable and has everything you need - although we did miss having Wi Fi. It is great to have your own parking space next to the house which can be at a premium in this area. We have stayed in Keswick on numerous occasions and this is now our first choice if travelling as a family - highly recommended

This was a very well equipped cottage, which fulfilled all our expectations from the website descriptions. The location was excellent, a short walk into Keswick with parking for our small car. The cottage was very well equipped and very comfortable. We had a great holiday and would definitely recommend this cottage. It had lovely views across the river and to the hills in the distance.

Brilliant and would happily stay again. Four stars rather than five because of the lack of wifi.

We had a great stay here! The location of WRENVILLE couldn't be better, less than 5 minutes to stroll into Keswick with lots of bars, restaurants & activities, with the park directly opposite. Many walks from the doorstep! The property has been designed & maintained to a very high modern standard with attention to detail features such a LED lights up the stairs & daffodils on the table! The weather was cold (but thankfully dry!) & the property was very warm, with lovely views from the upstairs lounge. Great to have a private parking spot. The big fluffy towels were appreciated too! The only negative is the noise, whilst not the property owners fault - the house is on a busy main road and the slash windows don't seem to offer much protection - when in bed (bedrooms are at front of house on ground floor), we could also hear the conversations of people passing (or singing/shouting if they've had a few beers!) Not really suitable for children due to the open staircase.

This cottage is very modern and well equipped. The living space is upstairs having great views and is very warm: we hardly needed to turn the heating up! The beds are really comfy and the bathroom is beautifully fitted making a hot bath very welcome at the end of a days walking.

We were impressed with Wrenville as soon as we pulled up outside as there's almost a temporary parking area right infront with a low kerb allowing us to unload on what can be quite a busy road at times. As soon as we entered the property its apparent that everythings been finished to a very high standard from the bathroom and brilliant shower right through to the kitchen fittings and lounge. My girlfriend particulary liked the stair lights at night,a nice touch.A couple of nights we actually stayed in and cooked (which is very unusual for a keswick trip because all the pubs are that good) and chilled out on the large leather sofas and enjoyed the views and a few local beers. The panaroma from the upstairs kitchen/lounge is brilliant with latrigg to the front and dodd wood to the rear. There's a lovely deep bath which was a nice place to be after a wet descent of skiddaw and the utility room with dryer ensured that all my gear was ready for more of the same the following day.Wrenville's very well located opposite fitz park and the river greta for pushchair rides for little un's or just a lazy walk to the pub or shops. The only negatives were road noise in the down stairs bedrooms but with a 6 month baby and keswick on your doorstep would you really want a lie in.The parking down the side of the house is great but unless you've got parking sensors your best getting someone to watch you in and approach from blencathra street down the alley at the back of the property. We loved it and would we stay again, most definately i'm already planning a winter mountain biking trip with a few buddies!!!

A high spec rental property in a good location (although there is a fair amount of road noise!). Very well equipped throughout, in a modern and minimalist style, and ideal for walkers with its wet room at the rear of the property. Vital for drying boots and outdoor clothes, the utility room really added extra value for us on a winter walking break.

Wrenville was an attractive property but the inability to open any windows on the ground floor for whatever reason was somewhat worrying and unhealthy. The outside seating area is not a satisfactory area for sitting out and disappointing to say the least.Well appointed internally. We would have appreciated being informed about the building work which was taking place opposite to the property before we arrived. Soewhat unnerving for our guests who were visiting from Christchurch New Zealand to be blasted at early o'clock from their bed.Smoke detectors over sensitive but with the non-opening windows probably necessary.
