Woodside Cottage is a pretty semi-detached cottage situated 1.5 miles from the village of Brompton-by-Sawdon near to Scarborough in North Yorkshire. The cottage can sleep four people with one king-size double (can be zip/link to two singles) and one double, together with a family bathroom. The cottage also contains a kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a woodburning stove. To the outside of the cottage is off road parking for two cars and an enclosed, front gravelled garden with patio and furniture. Woodside Cottage is located in an ideal location for a great holiday at any time of the year. Please note that this property cannot accommodate children 5 years or under.

Area
Brompton-by-Sawdon is a delightful country village situated between Scarborough and Pickering. This location, with its stone-built cottages, and country inns, is ideally placed for discovering the countryside, with the surrounding area being somewhat of a walker’s heaven. A little further afield the historic market town of Malton whilst the famous family beaches and seaside attractions of Scarborough are within easy reach.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Excellent cottage. Well equipped, very clean. Easy parking on site. Very quiet. Up dead end lane with no traffic outside. Good broadband and wi fi. Host left some lovely flap jacks and goodies for us. Many lovely places to visit. OS maps provided on site (please take care of them). I've been booking holiday cottages in the UK for twenty years and this is easily one of the very best. Well recommended.

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful part of England.. Very quiet, easy to get to. With plenty of places to go at a reasonable drive away. We took our dog and he loved it too.

This cottage completely exceeded our expectations even though I had read previous feedback.. Pulling up outside on a cold dark night to see the kitchen light on welcoming us was fantastic ... The cottage is absolutely devine. Furnished perfectly and very clean and tidy. The small things make all the difference and I have to say the owners have gone to great lengths to ensure everything is there you could possibly need. The area itself is excellent. In my opinion this area of North Yorkshire is hard to beat. Within a short distance you have the seaside, the moors and the forests. It just does not get any better. Fantastic cottage, brilliant location. I would readily and eagerly recommend Woodside Cottage to anybody and everybody. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Christine and Stephen.

The cottage is lovely and the setting is charming, we heard Owls in the woods and noticed plenty of wildlife whilst walking in the area.. It makes an exelent base for exploring the many interesting things to see and there are plenty of maps and leaflets to give you ideas on how to spend your days.

The cottage was amazing, very well presented and equipped, from reading previous reviews we knew there was no washing machine, so being prepared for that was not a problem.. It was in a peaceful area surrounded by some great walks for the dog. The owners where helpful with leaving information on everything, how things work, places to visit and local amenities etc.upon arrival there was a bottle of wine and some treats for the dogs, which were very much appreciated. We had a great week.

Everything about this cottage was quality and good taste.. Generous with logs for wood burner which was excellent on cold evenings even in June! Nice touches like fresh flowers and wine and milk in fridge and treats for dog. A lot of thought has gone into making guest's stay a memorable one.

This is one of the best cottages which we have stayed in with Sykes Cottages.. It was very comfortable and the facilities were excellent. Walks from the door, brilliant for dogs and owners.The cottage is convenient for visiting either the coast or the moors. We will certainly be staying in Woodside Cottage again.

We have already spoken and written to a number of friends and relatives about how much we enjoyed every aspect of the holiday (mentioned it in our postcards! ) and the cottage was just delightful. We have a very particular, design conscious daughter in her thirties and she loved it. We had not been to this side of Yorkshire before and we were really enchanted with it all, so no particular favourites. We visited Thirsk and that longish run gave us taste of the different countryside and villages. Our 'discovery' of nearby Trourtsdale thrilled us and our visit to Nunnington Hall, although expensive (we are not N.T. members), gave us a really civilised day out! And the weather, for the third week in February, was wonderful - even warm on occasions! The rain that came fell in the night! We'd love to come back and wouldn't hesitate to return to Woodside Cottage again.

The owners of this cottage go over and above to ensure that people using the cottage will have an extremely comfortable stay.. The cottage is the nicest we have ever stayed in, being spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and with every possible item provided that one would want or need on holiday. It is in a very quiet location with lovely walks straight from the front door. I would recommend a stay at this cottage to anyone.

After staying here in Sept 2017 with Daisy dog I wanted to show hubby how great this cottage is as he could not make it last year due to working on our new home. A year on it did not disappoint very clean and welcoming. The beds just seem to suck you in they are so comfy. It was with a sad heart I wanted to return as I lost my Daisy only 3 weeks after getting home last year so wanted to walk in her paw prints with our two new Pups. A nice walk is out of the cottage across the field towards Sawdon and a drink in The Anvil is a must. Yorkshire we salute you.

Woodside Cottage at Brompton By Sawdon has to be one of the very best.. Our second visit was just as good as the first which was exceptional. Location for quiet and relaxation away from busy roads is marvellous with easy access to all of the North Yorks moors area and East coastal resorts. Could not ask for more. Thoroughly recommend the Cottage and area.

Second time we have visited the cottage and just as good as the first it offers all you need for a nice relaxing break.. The cottage is both so very clean and comfortable. Our two new pups loved all the walks that you can do from the cottage door. A nice walk across the field then a drink at The Anvil at Sawdon is a must. PS don't miss the butchers in the village OMG. Can not recommend high enough

You would not find better than Woodside Cottage. Great secluded location away from busy traffic and excess noise. Location very good for accessibility to all of the coastal areas and also the moorlands where there is breathtaking views. Already booked again in late September this year. Says it all really - does`nt it. !! Would recommend to anyone without any hesitation whatsoever. Our two dogs loved it just as we did.

Woodside Cottage is a credit to its owners Christine & Stephen.. Quality fixtures and fittings and absolutely everything you would need to enjoy a really relaxing break away from it all. Situated very well between Pickering and Scarborough nestled in the quiet countryside, idyllic. We are returning in September which says it all .

This cottage is truly stunning.. There are so many homely features and it was exceptionally clean. The owners are extremely thoughtful as there are basic supplies in to help you (toilet rolls, cleaning products, cooking condiments that kind of thing. On the table were treats for our dogs and there was a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge. It was like home from home. Only downside is not having a washing machine but apart from that it is fabulous and I highly recommend it.

Lovely cottage in nice courtyard setting with handy dog walks on the doorstep / cottage is immaculately presented with thoughtful welcome pack including bottle of wine / log burner was most welcome after long walks with the dog / owners were very helpful and numerous maps and books of local area / we had a great night out in the old post office - a lovely local pub serving excellent beers and good selection of gins / the pub also provides great value grub - curries,pizza,lasagne etc / the local area is great for walks either on the beach or around forestry/ all 4 of us and 2 dogs had a lovely weekend and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

Woodside Cottage was just what we had been looking for.. The location was quiet and surrounded by countryside. The cottage itself was beautifully furnished and the owners had thought of everything that you might need. We prepared and cooked Christmas with no worries, the huge oven took care of this! The house was tastefully decorated and the wood burner was just the welcome home you needed after a chilly day walking with the dogs. The bedrooms were large and comfortable and the king size bed was unzipped and made up as 2 singles for our girls. The only downside was not having access to a washing machine; other than that Woodside cottage gave us a perfect family Christmas. The owners were always quick to respond to any queries and we thank them for letting us stay.

Beautiful cottage, which far exceeded our expectations.. Enjoyed our days visiting various locations, but loved returning to our holiday home and chilling out in front of the fire with a glass of wine/beer on an evening. The owners had gone to great lengths, ensuring that their visitors are short of nothing !. We didn't feel like visitor's, but guest's who were welcomed into their home. Hope to return in the not too distant future.

Was so looking forward to my week away to get away from doing our house up, and I must say the cottage was all it said it was and so much more. It felt like a friend had just stepped out and left you alone with their lovely home for a week. On a very quiet lane with so many walks to try, just remember when one of locals say its a nice little walk they have mountain goat blood in them so took me 2 hrs to do the nice little walk, but very glad I did it. The only thing I could have done with is a washing machine. The weather was a little hit and miss and some of the walks were very wet and slippery so I did end up rather muddy and just had to put the wet muddy clothes in a bag and wait until I went home. If I can find somewhere to put my horse I will be back to try out all the bridal paths.

It was a well equipped cottage that was beautifully clean with lots of great finishing touches such as fresh flowers in the kitchen.. There was a lovely welcome note plus milk, wine and even a card and chocolates for my mother's 90th birthday so the owners had gone out of their way to make it special. Very quiet location and there were plenty of maps and guide books to the local area which made it feel as if you were in a home. Definitely recommend to others.

The cottage was tastefully decorated and very well equipped; clearly a lot of thought had been given by the owner to ensure visitors needs were fully met.. On opening the door the cottage was so welcoming and we knew from the first minute that we were going to enjoy ourselves. The location was most handy for the various market towns as well as the coast and moors.
