The house was large and roomy, the garden room in particular was beautiful architecturally and designed to be full of light with views of the garden.. The bird wild life was constantly visible through all the windows! The house was right opposite Hurtwood Common which had lovely walking and a childrens playground. The TV room was perfect and cosy with an open fire which the house keeper lit for us, each of the children had a lovely bedroom, we slept well the rooms were airy and quiet.
Thank you too to the housekeeper who came round immediately and who sorted out our heating problem with a flick of a switch we hadnt realised about.

was prompt and efficient.

Other reviewers had mentioned poor broadband and the cottage not being clean.. I had no experience of this, the cottage was immaculate on entry and the broadband was entirely adequate.
It is a lovely, comfortable property in a great location. I have already booked to return in spring next year.

Nice place, kitchen could have been a little cleaner, some crockery was cracked and chipped.. Overall the house was spacious with a lovely sun room, comfortable beds, nice kitchen/dining area too.

The cottage was really lovely and as presented in the advert.. We had 2 issues, the WiFi is very intermittent and the cottage was not clean on arrival. There were dead flies in cups in the cupboard and under furniture. The floors were so filthy it made your socks dirty!

Had a lovely weekend at Woodhill Cottage for a family gathering.. The house is set in a great location with walking, biking and a choice of country pubs on the doorstep. The house itself has plenty of room to spread out - particularly with a very nice sun room that overlooks the garden and surrounding woodland. Definitely somewhere we'd love to come back to.

It grieves me to write this, but the cottage was filthy.. I don’t mind old or worn. A new chair can sit just as comfortably as an old chair, but when it comes to hygiene, only one way will do. The house needs a decent spring clean and the contents needs to be reviewed. Many of the dining room chairs were very rickety and could break at any moment. Other specific issues:
- Main bathroom’s bath had soap scum ring all around the bath with 3 short black curly hair in it.
- The two yellow cups in the main bathroom was covered in toothpaste as well as the sink.
- The taps in both bathroom sinks had toothpaste splatter.
- In the kitchen behind the breadtin next to the Aga, was a piece of food, looked like a small tomato that was shrivelling up.
- Whomever unpacked the dishwasher last must have had greasy/oily hands, as the “clean” plates in the cupboard had greasy fingerprints all over them.
- The en-suite bathroom window’s curtain is covered in black mold.
- The table covering in the dining room had a streak of what looked like egg yolk running down the side of it.
- Many of the dishes in the top right hand drawer next to the electric cooktop, has cracks in them (the red one, one of the blue spotty ones and many other small ones.) We did not use these, in case they broke.
- We could not get any of the radiators upstairs to turn on, no matter how high we turned the heat.
- Neither of the towel bars in the bathrooms ever switched on.
- We were not cold upstairs as thankfully the floorboards had so many gaps the heat from down stairs made its way up.
- The fridge is dirty with bits of food remains sprinkled throughout.
- The master bedroom’s bed lost one of its slats when my husband sat down to tie his shoes.
- The bed in one of the kids’ rooms (pink room with only one bed) also dropped a slat.
We got there early and the housekeeper was very kind to allow us in as she was finishing the kitchen floor. She made us a cup of tea and it certainly was much appreciated.
We would love to stay at this cottage again. Great location! It is spacious and the woods out back a real treat for the kids, but alas it needs some major cleaning and a good overall in its contents.
Not sure if all Sykes’ cottages are in this state. Rented twice from Classic Cottages before and their cottages were spotless (so it can be done).

We had a very pleasant stay at the cottage.. The cottage is according the description although it does miss abit of TLC as someone before described. The red couch in the sittingroom is a ruin and should be replaced. The toilet in the master bedroom is not working well and the toilet seat should be replaced. For this price tag it should be in good order. Despite those facts, we recommend this cottage. It is a nice location, well equiped and in a very beautiful area. Trainstation in Guildford for London is a 30 minutes drive. Good pubs in the village. The housekeeping is excellent. She came straight away when the wifi was not working at arrival.

A veritable home from home in the beautiful Surrey countryside.. Spacious, light and airy with the most fabulous garden for our daughter to play in - and an added bonus was the play park across the road. Quiet, serene and so cosy - perfect for our stay while we celebrated our family wedding in nearby Peaslake.

We had a lovely time at Woodhill Cottage, it was lovely ad comfortable and set up very well for guests to stay for a few days.. The real gem for us was the location as there are some really good pubs and long walks just a few steps down the road. We had a great time!

After the first step into the cottage by the side door we felt full compensation for the slightly cheap hotel on our way to England.. You can see that the house was not only built and furnished for a holiday but for a comfortable everyday life. No compromises in logistics for dirty boots or wet clothes, huge open kitchen and dining room, cosy garden room.

Great cottage and location.. The cottage does miss abit of TLC and a radio (really did miss abit of background music). Apart from that it was a great cottage.

I thought this holiday home was lovely.. The photographs really don't so it justice. It's a very warm and welcoming home from home with great walking right on the doorstep. Our family had a wonderful time here over Christmas. The kitchen was really well equipped. I was worried about getting a Christmas dinner ready in a rental property but I needn't have.

Woodhill cottage excessen our expectations.. Maybe it sounds picky, but the sliding window on the picture lowered our expectations a bit and we we were hesitating about eentonig this cottage initially. Now that we have been there it is the opposite: we are recommending this place to everybody! It really gives a homely and warm feeling and it is very well equipped!
