This old farmhouse was full of character and we all enjoyed staying there.. We wanted a house that would house a large group of friends for a weekend get together and this was perfect. The house was lovely and warm, there was plenty of space for all of us and three bathrooms meant there was never any queuing. The kitchen was well equipped though we did tell Mr Edgar that we could do with a few more wine glasses! The weather was wet and soggy but we walked down the Pennine way to Alston and enjoyed a meal in a friendly pub.

The cottage was lovely but needed some TLC.. It was clean Cosy and warm. Then the problems started!!! The upstairs toilet started to leak,Mr Edgar came to mend it but made it worse, this was Monday, Tuesday the water was coming through the ceiling, pans everywhere to catch the water. He came again and this time had to turn the water to the toilet off. The bath tap actually turned on it's axis, you had to hold the tap itself. Later that evening the gas pressure went down,we thought it was the calor bottle so asked him to change it. He said it wasn't,we had to managed with one burner. He also told us he had the parts for the toilet and he would come and mend it!!! That was the last we saw of him until leaving on Friday morning,he said he would mend the toilet that day,and knew about the problems with the cooker. Not a lot of good for us. Such a shame as it was so beautiful there.

Wow...what a amazing place. Lovely and inviting. Enough space for all. We spent most of our time in kitchen/dining room all together and the kids in the living room. We came in March and although the weather wasn't great it was a good place to be as we were all together, we liked having a table that sat all 9 of us...we usually have to feed kids then the adults. Lovely village nearby. Bedrooms were a good size and we had the choice of 3 bathrooms, so no queuing for the shower. I liked the separation of utility area to the rest of the house...wet dogs had somewhere to dry off and a place for dirty shoes. I wish we could have stayed longer and would love to come back for longer and hopefully better weather. My brother spoke with farmer/owner who was very friendly and chatty.
