From the accomodation description we had high expectations and the holiday property met them.. It was an extremely comfortable and well furnished property. Everything we needed was there. The location of the property was perfect and overall we had a great stay.

West Gable was just perfect and great value for money.. The fittings and fixtures were spot on and the property was spotless through out. We stayed for week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The surrounding areas offer great views and are perfect for walking. The host Craig was very helpful and gave us great advice on what to see whilst there. There are two flights of stairs to climb to the bedrooms and top floor living room, they are not steep but may be a challenge guests with walking difficulties. Overall a brilliant place to stay and visit.

A nice cottage, but unsuitable for wet weather due to the lack of drying facilities, no tumble dyer and washing pegged out on the few bright periods failed to dry.. The owner probably thinks he is saving by not providing a tumble dryer but the only alternative, to put on central heating, probably costs more. Shared garden is not ideal. We felt our two lively children were disturbing the occupants of East Cottage when they were sitting out. The garden is also open to the access road for Mill on the Fleet and totally unsuitable for young children as they can easily wander out onto the main road. Access to the river is vitually impossible due to the poor maintenance of the steps. Only parking space for 1 car, not 2 as stated. I also wonder when Sykes stopped supplying towels?I think this needs to be made clearer.

Had a fantastic week at West Gable.. It was our second stay; and the first time we have ever returned to stay at the same place - the second time was just as good as the first. Wonderful property, town and area.

The holiday cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed provided.. The garden was fantastic for our 2 young children to play out in and we sat out most evenings as the weather was excellent. Plenty to see and do nearby and we particularly enjoyed spending a couple of afternoons on the beach at cardoness.

The Gables is a gorgeous modern apartment within a stunning old church building on the banks of a cute stream in a beautiful quaint village.. Everything was provided for, including large pots for cooking for a large family - very appreciated. The only thing missing seemed to be a shower caddy in the East Gables master ensure.

Everything about the cottage was excellent.. The pre-arrival briefing notes were also excellent and the cottage was immaculate and warm. The only issue was that the oven dial readings were not visible on the oven which made oven cooking a little difficult.

Gatehouse of Fleet is a hidden gem in Dumfries and Galloway. However, even more of a gem is West Gable which forms part of a former church that has been superbly converted to provide some very comfortable and well fitted self catering accommodation. West Gable is a mirror image of the adjoining East Gable. It provides three bedrooms over 3 floors (one ensuite) together with a well fitted kitchen/dining/sitting area on the ground floor (plus utility room and wc), a family bathroom on the first floor and a lovely lounge on the second floor. There is lots to do in the area and West Gable provides a wonderful base. Highly recommended. I will be back again as soon as possible.

Lots of positives to agree with in others' reviews below. Delightful property, nice location -- the town has plenty of pubs with at least one excellent restaurant. The Mill, two minutes' walk away, does breakfasts and lunch if the weather is a bit Scottish. Lovely beaches nearby, a few without a surrounding of caravans: we found one (at Nun Mill Bay) for the traditional beach bonfire and barbecue. The Galloway steaks that we cooked there from the butcher (J Hall) at 49 St Mary Street Kircudbright were out of this world. All recommended +++ !

Lovely spacious accommodation, ideally located in Gatehouse of Fleet. Two generations of our family stayed comfortably for the week in this quirky, imaginatively-converted former church hall. Large kitchen / dining / living room on the ground floor with utility / wc. Living room on the 3rd floor gave lovely views of the River Fleet. Well-appointed, providing home-from-home facilities including dish washer and washing machine. Down-sides: mattresses on beds too soft and cleaning could be ramped up a notch (the en-suite bathroom especially).

A converted Church that inside looks nothing like the outside. Interior is very modern with plenty of space. Ground floor has a large entrance vestibule suitable for storing shoes and coats etc. Main entrance hall with staircase and at the end of the corridor a downstairs WC with utility room - washing machine. Large kitchen diner and attached sitting area with two large sofas and a small TV/entertainment centre. Large table with plenty of chairs and a long pew bench. Views from windows of river. First floor - large twin bedroom. Double bedroom.Bathroom with WC and bath. Second floor - large double bedroom with en suite. Good sized sitting room with views of river. TV and DVD. Two large sofas. Decor is modern and bright. Mixture of modern wooden floors and carpet and stone floors in kitchen. Excellent range of cooking bits and pieces. Comfortable beds. Very quiet but in the centre of the village. Private parking for two cars "end to end". If coming back to this area and available we would book again. There was only two of us but this let could easily accommodate six with plenty of space for all. Ideal for two couples. Highly recommended.

We recently stayed with family at this property and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The location is picturesque and accessible. The facilities were spacious and comfortable. We had 6 people staying in the home and it had everything we needed. Having three bathrooms ensured that all of us had enough space to get ready without having to wait. The beds are quite nice and I was able to get restful sleep. West Gable has been very creatively decorated and each room has it's own unique and modern feel. When seen from the outside the building is an old church, but completely different inside. I would highly recommend West Gable to friends and family. Only downside is they lack a tumble dryer (a laundry drying line is offered) which proves to be difficult in the cold weather months.

We stayed here with my folks and siblings, and found the place spacious for 6 adults. Everyone had plenty of space in their rooms, and the decor was fresh and modern. It's almost brilliant, just missing a couple of those finishing touches, but still very nice, bright, and airy. The building itself is fascinating and full of character. I know it was November, but the stone floor in the kitchen can get chilly, so take a good pair of slippers. And if you're staying on the top floor, beware, that's where all the heat ends up!

Wonderful accommodation in a very special part of Scotland. The cottage was perfect in terms of layout, facilities and location. The kitchen diner was especially perfect for lazy family evenings. A great part of Scotland, despite our visiting during the winter closedown for many attractions. Would love to return and would recommend the cottage to anyone.
