Self-Catering Reviews

August 2020
The property is in a great location with plenty of amenities and good places to eat right in the village - everything within 5 minutes walk.. Dolgellau is also a great spot for accessing beaches, Barmouth, Fairbourne, The mountains, Mawddach trail and Estuary. We had 11 people staying in total and everyone had plenty of room. Its a shame really because the bedrooms are massive and offer way better space than the main living areas which were a bit cramped when everyone was together. The dining room is a bit dark and cramped and we used that for breakfast and a couple of dinners. I guess if you want super traditional, old, rustic it definitely fits the bill. The garden is small and we had drinks and food outside a couple of nights. We had read on previous reviews about the cleaning and cleanliness and for what it would take to sort this out and give guests a nice fresh, clean greeting would be worth the bit of extra effort. It was not very clean, not a family to complain we just got on with it. Same for the garden area, a bit of TLC and it could be wonderful. It's not easy to find a property for 12+ people so in that respect it completely hit the mark. Size, Location - great. A bit more elbow grease on the clean and it would be super. Overall we had a fantastic time in the area which really caters for all ages and we had 3 generations with us. Thanks

This is a lovely place.. Would definitely recommend. Dolgellau is beautiful and the Wenallt property was lovely, clean and spacious enough for our party of 14. An excellent break all round

The parking was very difficult to access and inadequate for 4 cars, this meant we had to park 2 cars in the pay and display car park, £10 a day, an unexpected additional £70 to the cost of the holiday.. The rooms were not configured to allow 10 to sit together, two separate living rooms. Cobwebs in the living room indicate that the cleaning regime needs reviewing. Heating was barely warm enough.

Brilliant location for shops bars and restaurants house was really nice and supplied plenty of rooms for everyone to be together or chill out.. Plenty of plates and cutlery for everyone. seating in the garden was good and totally enclosed so our dog was safe to be let out. We had a brilliant week with plenty to explore near by

The ground floor had not been cleaned and we had 2x dead blue bottle flies on the floor.. Once we had cleaned it the location and house was brilliant.

Despite shockingly poor weather we had a wonderful stay at Wenallt.. The house is comfortable and extremely well kitted out for large groups. We had an issue with the heating when we arrived as the house was so cold and the radiators ( especially those on the second floor) were hardly functioning. One phone call to the management team though and we got it sorted. The electric fires were a godsend later in the evening when the heating was scheduled to go off. Many rental homes are basic with cheap furniture and furnishings but Wenallt was really a home from home. Even down to the quality of the crockery and cutlery. Very impressive. Just beware of the recycling requirements in Wales - they really are very strict. It's far easier to sort as you go along than have to catch up with yourself at the end of the holiday! We would definitely stay here again and I can't recommend the property highly enough. We were a party of nine and there was ample space so we weren't crowding each other at any time.

We loved Wenault, lots of space so everyone could spread out ( we were a family group of 11, adults and children)! The house was very well located, right in the centre of the pretty town of Dolgellau.

Loads of space for 10 people. Facilities really good. Lots of hot water. Kitchen new and well kitted out . Comfortable beds Would have been good to have a real fire.

This is a lovely, big house in the centre of Dolgellau, so well placed for shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as for walking and cycling.. It was perfect for our intergenerational group of 12 adults and one child, with space to spare for other members of the family who called in during the day. The rooms are of a good size and configuration, making it possible for several family groups to do different things; and, although we were lucky with the weather, there is plenty of space for wet weather activities. Our only niggles would be: - the beds are very creaky, disturbing some peoples' sleep - the fridge is far too small for the number of people stayin - just one cafetiere proved inadequate for 12 adults - providing only one tea towel and one bin-bag, 5 dishwasher tablets, and few toilet rolls seemed mean That aside, we would stay again!

Parking can be a bit difficult if you have more than two cars..
November 2017
7 of us stayed here for 3 nights last October. Excellent accommodation providing plenty of space and amenities. Relaxing environment and handy, as it was a short walk to the town where there where plenty of options to eat and drink. The house was spotlessly clean and well presented and had 3 large bathrooms. We are planning to return next year, it was that good. Parking is a bit of an issue as only enough room for 2 vehicles but that was overcome by parking in the long term car park next to the river. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic holiday due in part to the excellent accommodation..

Ten of us have spent the week running on the Welsh Coast Path and the house was great and in the perfect location. House - Great layout downstairs with plenty of space in the downstairs rooms to cope with the 10 of us all milling about. Good sized kitchen with plenty of crockery/cutlery. Two sitting rooms with TV's (one with DVD player and plenty of DVD's) and a dining room gave good flexibility for evening activity. Small utility room with washer/dryer was great for dirty clothes/shoes at end of the day. Upstairs the bedrooms are large, smart, clean and well laid out and with three showers there was never a queue. Location - just off the central square means everywhere in town is walkable. Nice pubs, nice meals in The Ship Hotel and Lemon Grass indian restaurant. Decent sized Co-Op but also great butchers / greengrocers in the square. Large park with riverside walk (and parkrun). Dolgellau is a main hub for buses in the region and it was easy for us to get to and from the Coast Path each day. As I write, Traws Cymru buses are free on weekends as well. Whilst we didn't walk inland, Cadair Idris can be walked from Dolgellau. I would thoroughly recommend the house and the town for a holiday base

The beds were comfortable to sleep on and the overall overall cleanliness of the property was excellent. There were plenty of bathrooms/toilets in the property which made our stay comfortable as there were so many of us. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the cottage.

After a day's hiking on Cadair Idris or biking at Coed-y-Brenin, Wenallt was the ideal place to come back to, to recharge. It accommodated the ten in our party comfortably, with room to spare, and everything we needed was right on the doorstep.
