Such a brilliant location for close enough for Visits and shopping but far enough away to be private and relaxing..

Very quiet location, just what we wanted.. Plenty of space and comfortable sofas. Bedrooms equally comfortable. Only issue was that, as we like to cook on holiday, we expected the pots and pans to be clean, but quite a few still had some food on, so we ended washing everything, including plates and cutlery, just to be sure. I know that turn-round times on changeover days are short, but in these days of Covid-19, I feel that the priority should be on making sure that anything related to food, cooking, eating etc. should take priority. Other than that no complaints, and we had a really good rest despite the weather!

Absolutely fabulous cottage.. Booked over Christmas for a family get together and it didn’t disappoint . The cottage itself is very well designed with an overall feeling of space. There were 4 adults and 3 children, aged 8,6 and 7 months and we were joined by 3 more adults and a 9 year old on Christmas Day and not once did it feel cramped. The boys loved the outdoor space. Then there are the extras. The Christmas tree and decorations were perfect and the welcome pack of milk, fresh bread, butter and cheese board were very appreciated. We have never stayed in such a well equipped cottage . The kitchen made Christmas dinner a breeze and the games/ jigsaws available kept everyone entertained until Father Christmas had been with their own toys. The real fire was lovely and the views felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Best Christmas ever. Thank you!

The cottage was fantastic ,and in a lovely location.. We were surprised by the amount of things and places to visit in the area. We will certainly visit north Yorkshire again.

This beautiful cottage had more the feel of the hotel about it than a self catering holiday home, equipped with everything anyone could need for a comfortable stay including towels, tea towels, hand soaps, shower gels, cleaning products, and much more.. We were even left a welcome package of fresh bread, butter and cheese, plus milk in the fridge ready for the first cuppa, for which the tea and coffee were supplied too! Truly wonderful, looking forward to another stay soon!

The cottage was excellent position get away from it all.. Well equipped. Fantastic walking around virtually traffic free country lanes. Just could do with a more deep clean, several areas in the property like under sofa and bathrooms. Also little areas like light bulbs out handles loose in kitchen. Also plumbing in en suite made a loud noise every time you used the sink/toilet could do with a handy man around just doing little touch's here and there. We have stayed in several Sykes properties and they are normally spotless clean. But on a good note nice welcome from owner and bread, milk cheese in kitchen. Great log burner and the under floor heating is amazing the whole cottage lovely and warm.

Would like to add a personal thanks to the owner of the property who met us on our family's arrival from the USA.. Four very tired children felt at home straight away and when they left were wanting to take the cottage with them! As one of them said 'This has been a blast' Thanks again

This is our 3rd visit to Wellberry, it is a beautiful location and the space inside is well laid out, ideal for two families as there are two sides to the cottage and all rooms are very generous in size.. The owners have thought of everything you may need and are always friendly and welcoming. The house is always well kept, clean and equipped with a welcome of fresh bread, butter, cheese and milk. There is a garden outside for children to play and to sit and take in the glorious views. We will be back.

The accomodation was of a very high standard of decor and fit it also had lovely surroundings.. A couple of things took the gloss off it for us. Not everyone likes dogs, unfortunately the adjoining properties that have permanent residents have dogs and a few times during the week we got woke up very early in the morning by dogs barking. The dogs also hassled us when trying to get from the car to the cottage, and they also went to the toilet on the lovely lawn. If a dog is your best friend then this probably wont be a problem. In the accomodation the table runners in quite a few of the rooms were quite dusty, hence the reason we folded some of them up and didn't use them. In our opinion it looks as though rooms that hadn't been used recently may not have been dusted

We returned to Wellberry for our second visit and it was just as fantastic as we had remembered. It was spotlessly clean and still in tip-top condition. The design was a sumptuous as we had remembered and there is so much room for a family of six. We were also able to explore the local area in more detail this time, and the house really is so well-positioned as a base for this lovely part of the country, and there are plenty of walks right on the doorstep as well. Cannot be faulted in any way; a lovely property.

Wow, what a find! My partner spotted this one, and as we'd never been to this part of the country before, we decided to give it a go. Wellberry is spacious, luxurious, and beautifully designed throughout. All the rooms are well-appointed and the kitchen is among the best-equipped we have seen. Not only did we luxuriate around the house for a couple of days, but the property is ideally situated for days out. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Absolutely brilliant, cannot recommend highly enough.

Wow, what a find! My partner spotted this one, and as we'd never been to this part of the country before, we decided to give it a go. Spacious, luxurious, and beautifully designed throughout, this was a truly superb holiday property. All the rooms are well-appointed and the kitchen is among the best-equipped we have seen. There were two adults and four children aged between 12-6 and we all had more than enough room inside and out. And a word about that as well - another reviewer here has stated that the pictures do not do justice to the cottage - this is true. You simply don't get the sense of space that exists inside from the pictures. And no pictures of the exterior? There is a really good sized, well-maintained lawn round three sides of the property and the view from the back patio door is breathtaking. A little bit of research using maps and Google Earth showed that you are looking right across at the North-eastern part of the Yorkshire Dales. Not only did we luxuriate around the house for a couple of days, but the property is ideally situated for days out. We were able to easily reach Barnard Castle, the Bowes Museum and Beamish Museum while we were there, and there is also a really pleasant walk through farmland around Staindrop (which is about 5 minutes away) and there are other trips planned for when we return in 2017! The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The kids were genuinely sad to leave here, and you know what cynics they can be! Absolutely brilliant, cannot recommend highly enough.

This was a well equipped cottage with the wow factor. It had lots of extra touches from the traditional log burner to the ultra modern shower in the family bathroom. There were lovely views from the cottage across the surrounding countryside. All in all a relaxing family break.

Just back from a week at Wellberry, thought the cottage was lovely with the "wow" factor. Very well equipped - everything you could need was available. The bread, butter, cheese and milk along with the fresh flowers were much appreciated. The views from the cottage across the surrounding countryside are stunning!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The quiet location made for a relaxing stay with panoramic views to admire. Although on a farm, we were surprised at how handy it was for so many amenities and places to visit. There was so much beautiful scenery within easy reach which meant that there was something for all of us, without having to go too far. Finally, the birds in the garden were a source of joy.

We stayed at this cottage for one week over the Christmas period. Upon arrival we were greeted by a real Christmas tree, homemade bread, cheese, butter, tea bags etc. which was a lovely warming welcome. The photos do not do this cottage justice - it is a beautiful, spacious building with stunning views. The log fire was wonderful and really made the place feel Christmassy and we were provided with more than enough logs to keep us going!

Wellberry was in a beautiful setting.. The views were amazing. It was well away from main roads so very peaceful. There was everything you needed, a real home from home. We would consider booking both cottages next time for a full family get together.

This was every thing we could want for in a holiday rental, the location was fabulous as was the property. Helen and Scott have filled the property with wonderful tasteful furnishings and fittings, the under floor heating was a delight in the mornings. The thoughtful touches like the fresh flowers, milk bread cheese and butter were a lovely surprise.
