Booked a last minute short break Jenna was very flexible about start date and duration. The cottage is a great size for 2 people, the bedroom especially is beautiful and spacious. Well placed for enjoying the area and an excellent dog friendly pub just 20 yards away. No off road parking but it was never an issue getting parked directly outside the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and wouldn’t hesitate booking again.

We booked this cottage last minute so wasn’t expecting too much . On arrival Jenna was lovely and friendly, there was tea and coffee supplied plus a bottle of wine. The cottage is quaint , perfect for two with two terriers . The bedding and towels were of good quality and the whole cottage was spotlessly clean . There is a big supermarket a short drive away for all of your essentials . The pub next door is dog friendly and does lovely well priced meals . The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring the area . Derwent reservoir is 5 minutes away , Bamburgh castle is about an hours drive away . Druridge bay is a must if you have dogs . Long empty beaches for the dogs to run madly in the surf . Alnwick castle , Seahouses, high force waterfalls all within easy reach . We even had a day in the Lake District. It was our first visit to the area but certainly won’t be our last and would definitely stay at Wayside cottage again .

The cottage was the best we have ever stayed in.. We were given a very warm welcome. We have stayed in this and surrounding areas for the last 7 years, and this is by far the best we have ever experienced.

We experienced some extreme gales whilst we were there.. However outside shutters on bathroom fan were being blown by the wind and the noise made it very difficult to sleep even with bathroom door closed. May need modern one. WiFi would be very useful as phone signal poor. Locals very friendly and local pub served lovely food and they were all very welcoming of us and the dog. Cottage was cosy and practical for bringing dog and walking paraphernalia. Good location for visiting lots of locations

We found the cottage to be located in a great location for touring the area and the village itself was very pleasant with a great local pub.. We would like to return one day to explore the area fully as we found a week wasn't long enough to do it justice.

Wayside is a very nice cottage close to pub and local shop.. The only problem we found was the smell from the oil fired heating system which seemed very strong at times Otherwise a great little getaway complete with the most snow we have seen in a very long time!

We have left constructive feedback to the owners about minor additions to make using local facilities easier..
