Set over two floors this studio-like home (there are no separate bedrooms) is a good base to explore the Alfama neighbourhood – as one of Lisbon’s oldest districts, its maze of cobbled streets lead to a number of historic attractions like the Castle and Se Cathedral. The home might be small, but its abundance of skylights and stunning view provide a bright and calm environment.

Home truths:
* The main bed is located in the communal area next to the kitchen – this home doesn’t have any separate bedrooms
* Be prepared that two of the guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the communal living room area
* The ceiling over the main bed is too low to stand upright – like getting dressed in a tent!
* There's only one bathroom between the four guests – try to get in there first in the morning
