You can prepare your breakfast and morning coffee and take it outside to enjoy in the sunshine, all the while drinking in those marvellous views. You can always find a spot in the shade too, ideal for the afternoon when the Italian sun is beating down on the tiles.

Inside, you can enjoy the view from the living rooms and kitchens too. Windows are a big part of the traditional decor here, so if you need to take a break from the sun you won’t miss out. The bedrooms are elegant and pretty, with something to love about each room. Will you go for the four-poster bed and make the most of having your own piano? *There’s air conditioning in the bedrooms of floors one and two – the ground-floor bedrooms have no AC but it’s the coolest part of the home
*The walk into Monticchio takes around five minutes but is a little on the steep side
