In saying that, the city is pretty easy to traverse on foot – and besides, that way allows way more opportunity for the perfect holiday photo. With impressive architecture, including a lot of neoclassical work, Milan is not only a great hub for shopping, it makes for a pretty picture too.

Speaking of, you’re only a twenty-five-minute walk away from Quadrilatero d'Oro, a buzzing shopping centre with wares from some of the most exclusive fashion houses on offer. After a long day – and a few purchases later – return home to the compact, fire-engine-red kitchen to brew a fresh cup of coffee. Sit back as the aroma fills up the home, and once done, dig into the cannelloni you bought on the way home.
