Lyreboy is a single-storey detached cottage situated 3.5 miles from the village of Glencar in County Kerry. The cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms, consisting of two doubles and a twin, as well as a family bathroom and a shower room. The cottage also has a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with open fire. Outside there is ample off road parking and lawned gardens with furniture and barbecue. Lyreboy is a terrific base for exploring the McGillycuddy's Reeks mountain range, Killarney National Park and delightful towns and villages.

All ground floor. Three bedrooms: 2 x double, 1 x twin. Bathroom with bath, basin and WC. Shower room with shower, basin and WC. Kitchen with dining area. Utility. Sitting room (seats 5) with open fire.

Area
The village of Glencar offers three pubs, a Post Office and a shop in a region of Kerry known as The Kingdom. Glencar is a nature lover's paradise with the McGillycuddy's Reeks mountain range and an abundance of wildlife in the area. The pretty town of Killorglin is within easy reach and has a variety of cafés, pubs and restaurants, plus sandy beaches and golf courses are nearby.

County Kerry is a mystical and unspoilt part of Ireland, with spectacular natural beauty and a fascinating history. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, it features many sandy beaches, rocky inlets and stunning peninsulas.

We were made extremely welcome by Paul and Vera (and Shep the dog! ) and had a fantastic stay. The house was lovely, comfortable and spacious with everything we needed. The location is central to everywhere with amazing local views. We would (and probably will) return without hesitation.

The cottage took a while to get to as it is in the he middle of nowhere but it was worth it for the astounding setting.. It was spacious and equipped adequately. There was a little bit of a tiredness about the decor & furniture but this didn’t affect our lovely time there and our falling in love with Ireland.

Lovely location, perfect for hiking holiday. A well equipped traditional home with a wonderful view from every window. the host family provide a lovely welcome, nice warm fire on arrival, flowers, cake, and stables that make it easy to settle in. We stayed a long weekend and wished we had longer.

The cottage is in an outstanding location surrounded by the Kerry mountains and a roaring river on one side.. Every window has a breathtaking view. We were welcomed with a lovely tray of biscuits, cake and tea. The fire was already lit and warming the sitting room. The family were very helpful. but not at all imposing. The house had all the essentials and was perfect for us as a base for hiking. We all loved the stay.

In October 2018 my wife and I returned to Lyreboy after having spent a week there last year. The owners, Paul and Vera were fantastic. They gave us a great irish welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. We really enjoyed our two week stay there and the owners made us feel at home. Lyreboy is a great cottage in a perfect location. We are looking forward to our next visit and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice quiet break.

My wife, daughter and I went to Lyreboy on the 4 November 2017 to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary, explore the Kerry area and do some hill walking.. On arriving at the cottage we were met by Vera Sheehan who gave us a warm Irish welcome. In addition to the starter pack we were given a card, a cake and a box of After Eight for our anniversary. The cottage and the owners Paul and Vera Sheehan were great and nothing was too much bother for them. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every minute. We will definitely return to Lyreboy.

A beautiful location in the mountains of Kerry. The cottage is lovely, with flowers at the windows and the classic perfectly mowed lawn. The interior is even better; well prepared, clean and with enough equipment for all needs, including washer and dryer. The parking lot is next to the house. I think it deserves the highest marks.
