Blessed with bold modern design, Carbon Star is the kind of home you'd expect to see in the 'it' neighbourhood of a city. Sarrià was historically the opposite – a refuge for the city elite to escape the noise and engage in some r&r, a tradition dutifully honoured by the building's offers of luxurious facilities. This home is closer to an aparthotel than a homey private residence, but we couldn't complain too much in the presence of carefully curated art and beautiful Scandi-inspired furniture.

Home truths:
* The third bedroom has a small bed that will be uncomfortable for an adult
* As the master bedroom is exterior-facing, some of the street noise can be heard from the outside
* Although the metro will get you to Eixample quickly, Sarrià isn't super central
* Pets and are allowed – those with allergies get in touch if you have any concerns
* The only parking in the area is public, and therefore payable
* You can ask the host to add another bed in the study if you have unexpected guests, but otherwise, this is a three-bedroom home
