"A bit of a strange one, owner met us when we arrived and gave us lots of does and don'ts including which bins to put items in,the mattress in the en-suite bedroom is orthopedic, very hard on my bad hips, there are cupboards locked with padlock and chain(like they dont trust anyone),the en-suite needs an upgrade, the shower is from the 1970s and the fan above the shower sounds like a plane taking off, owner lives behind the cottage which makes you feel a bit "watched" and on the morning of checkout, she first of all went through all the bins outside with a fine tooth comb and found some "spanners" in one of them and told my son it is abuse,,we never put spanners in the bin and cannot think of anyone who would bring spanners from the uk,just to dump in someones bin?" ? they were AF spanners when the uk use metric spanners(strange) and i thought 86 euro for 2 weeks electric was extortionate when we never turned the hot water or heating on and was out almost every day from early morning untill 9 or 10 at night,no wifi and about 10 chanels on the tv,not our best stay in ireland and it was soured by being accused of something so trivial.

What made the experience extra special was the lady Eleanor who owed the house.. She was so welcoming and checked to see we were ok. Left in freshly baked scones too.

Caola Nua was lovely, very quiet, very roomy, and beautiful views over Dunmanus Bay.. There were only the two of us, my husband and myself, but even for six, there would have been plenty of room. Eleanor, the owner, is a lovely lady, very helpful, and her little dog was a frequent visitor during our stay. By the end of our twelve day holiday we felt really at home there, and were sorry to leave. i am a keen photographer, and the Sheep's Head Peninsula was full of stunning views, absolutely perfect for me! The area was very quiet at this time of year, but I understand, even in the summer, it never gets too busy.

If you are looking for somewhere to relax and escape the fast paced life we all now seem to endure, this is a recommended place to stay. Mountains to the rear open aspects to the sea at the front. On your arrival the owner had home baked apple pie and scones which were left in the kitchen for us. The accommodation is very clean and tidy, a great base for walkers or as a jump off point to discover Cork and Kerry. On our last day and in typical Irish hospitality the owner baked butterfly cakes for us. Give Eleanor a call you wont be disappointed, we will be returning soon I hope.

We enjoyed a fabulous week staying Caola Nua situated in a beautiful location overlooking the sea.. The house was spacious and every window took advantage of the beautiful views which we couldn’t get enough of. The owner of the house is a lovely lady who made us feel very welcome, she left a home made apple pie and scones with jam to greet us on our arrival. We had daily visits from her little dog who was great company. We couldn’t fault the house or the area and would recommend it to anyone who wants a complete switch off from the world, you can’t help but relax here, we will definitely be back.

Eleanor made us very welcome & greeted us with scones & an apple pie.. The cottage was in an excellent location with beautiful views across the bay. The loop walks on the Sheepshead peninsula were well signed and gave plenty of options.

The best thing was the owner's warm welcome.. She even baked us an Apple pie and scones, and was waiting for us on our arrival. The cottage was in a fabulous location with great sea views and an excellent restaurant nearby as well as a village shop and pub. We appreciated the outside seating and the lovely sun room. Inside everything was immaculate and spacious. We would recommend the area for walking and cycling and for visiting places like Bantry, Ballydehob, and Glengariff. Overall, it was excellent value.

Spacious and comfortable cottage. The owner was very friendly and welcomed us with home-made scones straight from the oven. The owner lives in the next door cottage and has a gorgeous little dog who will make himself at home given half a chance! Bantry, Glengariff, Sheeps Head and Mizen Head are within fairly easy reach by car, or you may prefer some of the many walks on the lakeside or the surrounding Hills. Kilcrohane (10 minutes walk) has 2 pubs...Eileen's Bar was our favourite...a couple of restaurants, and a post office come general store. A truly delightful area with stunning views of Bantry Bay just over the hill behind the cottage.

We were four pensioners and have stayed in many different property's through out Ireland, this was one of the best a superbly equipped house with every detail for a comfortable holiday thought of ,lovely comfortable beds which is rare ,the house has lovely sea views in a stunning location. Eleanor was the perfect host, a lovely Apple pie and scones to greet us on arrival. I would highly recommend this property and hope to return at some point. Only criticism is we could not use the two showers at the same time, which made showering in the morning a long drawn out affair

It was a beautiful house in a fantastic rural setting. The locals were very friendly and helpful. It was also a very convenient base for travelling farther out to visit landmarks and larger towns. All in all it was a very relaxing and pleasant environment, complemented by the helpfulness of our host.
