As you'd expect in such a residential neighbourhood like Villa Olimpica, this home is wonderfully quiet. The kitchen is a little dated, but with a communication hatch connecting it to the open-plan living room, it's clearly been designed for socialising. The kitsch artwork might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's certainly colourful and uplifting. And it's hard not to fall in love with the sunny terrace on the ground floor bursting with beautiful Bougainvillea.
Home truths: *Villa Olimpica isn't exactly central Barcelona – it has more of a residential neighbourhood feel with plenty of its own lively bars and restaurants *There are only two bathrooms – at maximum occupancy of eight people, you'll have to time your morning showers strategically *We're admittedly quite a picky bunch but the bedding throughout is not as luxurious as we would want it to be *Without a door to separate it from the staircase, the master bedroom on the second floor is not especially private *Whilst it's strong on the ground floor, the WIFI connection is a bit patchy elsewhere *The terrace on the second floor is laid with AstroTurf – easy to maintain, but aesthetically cheap looking
