Lovely house and location. Villa Marina is a self catering holiday house/cottage on the Roa Island Peninsula. It sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms.
All of the bedrooms are good, but the master bedroom is spectacular offering amazing views of the bay.
The house itself is large and beautifully spacious with plenty of rooms. There are 2 well equipped lounges, but the outstanding room is the kitchen/dinner/conservatory area, large, light, comfy and offering wonderful views of the bay.
And sitting in the hot tub overlooking the bay was amazing (best view I've ever had from a tub).
The location is very peaceful and secluded, but also the Lakes are not too far to get to (we've done hill walks and been on Lake Windermere).
The house was clean and the owners were really helpful.
We go away as a family every year and this is the only place we have come back to. Highly recommended.
P.S. I have read some other reviews suggesting the house wasn't clean, I met the owners who explained they have had some issues in the past, but have addressed them, and when we went the house was great from a cleanliness perspective.

We stayed with our extended family and had a great break. This is ideal if you want a little peace and quiet.
As you can see from the photos one of the main features is that the two sides of the house that over look the sea are glass fronted. This makes the house lovely and light and a perfect spot to watch the world go by. We were lucky and had sunny weather, but I suspect it would also be dramatic in stormy weather.
The house itself was lovely and large, a big kitchen/dinner, a long conservatory area, a couple of lounges and the bedrooms. All of the bedrooms are decent, but one in particular has a balcony and beautiful views (you can fight over that one).
You also get your own little bit of beach...it's pebbly rather than sandy, but we spent a long while looking for shells.
Away from the house the area is peaceful. Which meant there were some lovely beaches with no-on on them. As the other review said you will need transport for shops etc. But Barrow isn't far.
The southern lakes aren't far (45 mins) so trips to Windermere and the area are pretty easy. So we went for walks etc, but my older parents were happy in the house.
Oh and if it's of interest to you there are plenty of Parkruns nearby...Feel Foot (Windermere) was great, you could swim in the Lake afterwards.
So if you want a peaceful trip this is highly recommended and we are going back.

Lovely place to stay, really idyllic with it being right on the seafront and only access via a long stretch of road from the main part of the town itself.
House had everything that was needed for a large family to stay in, ample bedroom space, large hottub, great kitchen facilities etc.
Only thing to note is that there's no shop within walking distance of the property, however there are large supermarket chains and other conveniences within a 10 minute drive to Barrow itself.
Lots of great things within driving distance for the family including;
South Lakes Safari Park (reasonably priced)
Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre (lovely insight into how the monks live with a great tea room too!)
The Docks Museum (free entry)
The Motor Museum (Great for motor enthusiasts)
The Hoad Monument for a nice walk
Milkshake Madness (highly recommend their milkshakes and waffle sticks!!)
Would recommend to anyone thinking of booking, we had a great time and thinking of booking again next year!
