A deceptively large Victorian terrace house we picked it because of the location and the fact we could bring our dog. A couple of negative things were the time delay to get hot water through the system and the Fridge Freezer had seen better days and was broken in places. We thought the advantages outweighed these and included off street parking, close to supermarkets and other shops, easy drive to places like Saltburn plus station just down the road for longer trips - we went to Middlesbrough by train.

Perfect location for exploring this beautiful area.. Short walk from lovely beach of which you could stroll along to Saltburn and Redcar. Returning to the cottage, which was warm and cosy, with its sun trap court yard was always pleasant.

We had a great holiday in Marske, such a lovely little place with very good local facilities and plenty to do in and around the area.. The cottage was much bigger than we had expected, and had everything we needed for a comfortable weeks holiday. The beach is about a gentle 10 minute walk away, and is spotlessly clean - you can walk along it to Saltburn in one direction and Redcar in the other, and both are worth the effort, Saltburn in particular is a lovely place to visit. Whitby is about a 30 minute drive away, and is as good you would expect but probably very busy. Car parking at the cottage is in a reserved spot behind the property, which is very useful - but be warned access is quite tight - we have an e-class coupe so not the biggest car in the world, but a reasonable size. So if you have a bigger car you might want to bear this in mind. All in all we had a lovely time and have no reservation in recommending Victoria Cottage to anyone considering a holiday in the area, especially if you have a dog who loves walking / playing on the beach.

Comfortable and well appointed Victorian terraced house.. Outside toilet and some garden furniture. Suggested a radio in the bedroom and a cafetiere. Would advise future guests to go past the house to the roundabout and approach the very narrow entrance to parking area from the opposite side of the road. Some traffic noise especially in the morning as the road is busy but all in all a good spot.

Msrske is a great place to stay, not commercialised, two dog friendly pubs.. 2 small supermarkets , great chip shop and the best beaches for dog walking. This cottage has everything you need for a great holiday stay

A lovely homely terraced cottage.. Although set on the main High Street, it does have parking which is always a bonus at a seaside town. Dog friendly area. Excellent location for amenities like pubs, shops etc and within walking distance to the sea. It was one of those properties you could visit and stay again. We loved it.

Everything was as expected.. Location good and 'cottage' comfortable for 4 adults and 2 dogs. No carpets to worry about. The cooker is not very good, especially the grill. Local amenities excellent. Everything you would need on the doorstep. Good pubs and shops.

Stayed here for 1 week with my boyfriend and dog Lucy. He went kite surfing to Redcar, we spent the week chilling walking to the beach within a slow 10 minute walk or less if you are a fast walker. Everything on your door step. On the High Street so a busy road but never bothered me and I come from a home with no traffic. So clean and fresh smelling from the moment you walk in. Parking tight at the back but we took 2 cars and fitted the one behind the other Short drive to Saltburn & Staithes but much preferred where we were longest stretches of clean beaches here. Lots of shops for convenience, 3 pubs 2 are dog friendly - cheap and cheerful and the staff at The Ship and The Zetland could not do more for us. Before we went asked for more photos on here but never got them so added lots more myself. The cottage has been changed since original listings and upgraded lots. Small yard at the back but just across the road recreation ground to walk the dog. Most definitely will be back here again

Victoria Cottage was warm safe and comfortable. Excellent break.
September 2014
We found the Victoria Cottage a great place to stay and would highly recommend it. There was a couple issues such as turning on the TV a bit of an issue and also the washing machine but once we got the hang of it all was well. We also found the kitchen fully equipped and spotless. If a person was expecting wifi and internet service they would be disappointed as it is not available.

The cottage is spacious and well-equipped. It is well situated for the town and the beach. The back yard looking out over the allotments is very pleasant. The outside toilet is very convenient, and the shower is splendid!

It was our fifth visit to Victoria Cottage and we are already booked for September. We love the homely feel of the cottage and it is always immaculately clean. It's also in a great location for local amenities and the beach.
April 2013
We had a lovely stay at Victoria Cottage. It was well equipped and welcoming. We appreciated the decor and the art on the walls and found nothing missing that would have made our stay more comfortable. as we had a large car the narrow entrance to the parking space was a bit of a challenge but it was possible to get up and down without scraping (just). Getting the keys was easy and being able to take our dog was a definite bonus. The house was nice and clean when we arrived and the beds were comfortable. All in all, a perfect home from home (our daughter arrived before us and did put away a lot of the ornaments, cushions, etc which had made it look a bit old fashioned. The house looked better without them).

December 2012
Very nice house, spotless on arrival and a welcoming tray of tea along with a very large size packet of biscuits! Everything we needed. The hot water/heating worked efficiently.
December 2012
Victoria Cottage was ideal for us ie. 2 adults and an elderly dog. It is well equipped with everythig necessary for a very comfortable holiday. Ther is a small enclosed yard at the rear and a car parking space exclusive to the cottage. It is very conveniently situated for shops and a recreation ground directly opposite the cottage, where we walked the dog each evening. Although Marsque itself does not have many facilities it is close to other seaside places eg, Redcar, Sandsend and Saltburn. It is also reasonably close to the Dales National Centre. we would recommend it to any family without young children.
Mrs Bremner

The cottage was very comfortable and convenient for shops and eating places. The dog enjoyed the very convenient field across the road. All in all a very pleasant relaxing cottage for a holiday within beautiful countryside. To top it all we had lovely weather.

Excellent, 5 star! We've been 3 times and have booked again for September. Very homely and comfortable cottage in a great location for amenities and the beach.
January 2012
The cottage was fantastic, had everything you needed and catered for everyones needs. Don't be tempted to shop at a large supermarket before you get there coz there are great independent shops in the centre (5 min walk) such as a green grocers and butchers. The train station is another 5 minute walk in the opposite direction making it handy to visit Middlesbrough, Saltburn and other lovely places without worrying about parking. It is really close to the beach and you can walk to Saltburn Pier. I love the village, the people are friendly and i would actually like to live there!!

A most enjoyable week with good weather. All about Victoria Cottage and Marske was fine. Useful base for Tees Estuary, bird watching and for photographs of a rare industrial and post industrial landscape. All services within very easy walking distance. Would visit again.

June 2011
This is the nicest property we've stayed in so far, my wife and I would happily live in it permanently. Enough said. The Village amenities and nearby beach are fantastic - we all (dogs included), had a great week despite the sometimes dodgy weather.

May 2011
The location was perfect, close to the beach and local facilities. Lots of walks in the immediate area and the railway station is only five minutes away. Lots of eating places locally, offering real value for money. Thanks, we'll be booking Victoria Cottage again very soon!
January 2011
Ideal base from which to tour the North York Moors, Cleveland Hills and coast or further north for Teesdale and Hadrians Wall. With 2 dogs we wanted somewhere close to the sea and 5-10 minutes puts you in the centre of a 5 mile stretch of sandy beach. Saltburn in one direction and Redcar in the other are 2 lovely seaside towns and not over commercialised. The cottage is ideally located for a 2 minute walk to supermarkets, take-aways, pubs and plenty of other services whilst with private car parking at the back so hassle free with or without a car. The cottage itself was clean, warm and comfortable, perfect for a week away.
Mr Leatherland
