We went for a week what a lovely place central to a lot of seaside towns .we absolutely loved this place peace and quiet and Ian and Linda are fantastic hosts we would have stayed another week but unfortunately it was booked we will be there in March. Thank you very much for a great holiday can't wait to see you all and be back there again
Lovely cottage, just the ticket for r&r weekend.. Great location for getting out and about too. Mr & Mrs Robert's so friendly and helpful. Loved waking up to the chickens, geese & horses.

No dishwasher as described, good wifi and heating,

Mr & Mrs Roberts where very friendly and welcoming.. Cottage was perfect for what we needed. Lovely to wake up and see the chickens running around. The Cross Keys pub was only a short walk down the road , locals and landlord where very friendly. Ruthin town was full of history. Will definitely be staying again. Highly recommended .
The cottage we stayed in was rather dirty.. There were dusty items within the living room. The rug was stained and dirty so we had to roll it up as it was horrible to look at. There were dead bug marks on the wall. The toilet seat was broken. There was a hole in the floor that had been covered by carpet just by the kitchen door nearly twisting my ankle on numerous occasions. There was no safe place to allow the dog to wonder outside without a lead. There were bags of rubbish left outside for 5 days of our stay with flies around it. There was also washing left just by these bags of rubbish on the rotary line for the entire holiday (the same washing come rain or shine) I do have photos showing all of these. In my opinion they need to stop people visiting this cottage until much needed clean up work and diy is completed to make it a much cleaner and safer place to stay.
According to Sykes Cottages they do not have a regular inspection rota, relying on customer feedback. The place was dirty, with snail trails on the carpet, dead insects & cobwebs on the interior window frames. We managed to stay 2 nights then booked into a local hotel. A letter has been sent; the reply was a lukewarm apology, delegated to a member of the office staff, with only a hint of a possible, partial refund as a goodwill concession, on an additional booking with the company for another cottage in September - which has not materialised, hence this review. We "stayed" at a point when there was a family medical emergency, so our stress was increased by this apparent lack of concern for customers' comfort & trust on the part of the owners & Sykes.
Lovely time in Ruthin very nice cottage clean n comfortable love family the Robert's would go back again definitely
We don't think you described the cottage well enough - it was lovely.. We loved the daily visits from the cockerel and his hens and the free eggs.
The cottage is very compact, comfortable and warm.. We received a welcome half dozen lovely fresh eggs from the hens in the field above. Mrs Roberts was very helpful. We only had a short stay over the weekend but would certainly stay there again.
The owners where very helpful and good
Nice welcome from owners.. Cleanliness wasn't much sadly. Some rooms wasn't cleaned.
A mop would've been handy to clean the kitchen floor as outside was muddy. Bought sink cleaning equipment.
Location was pretty good. Animals where unique and good to see.
Area was beautiful.
Would reconsider the place again.
Overall would describe the place as cute, comfortable and great for a wind down.
this was are second visit to the cottage this year ,we stayed in july and last week the 15/09/17.what can I say it is very private and quite apart from the cockerall going off in the mornings .what you see is what you get.very nice people who own the place very welcoming.we are going back next year cannot wait ,it was a lovely break .the cottage is well equipped and comfortable just needs a bit TLC.
A lovely cosy place to stay, in a wonderful area.. Everyone so friendly, and made us so welcome, including the dog. Weather could have been better, but still enjoyed the scenery and food in this area of North Wales. Mr. & Mrs. Roberts made us very welcome, and we always there to help when needed. (had flat tyre on car and Lynda made one phone call, and within an hour job done, I call that service.) Thanks too all for making it such a pleasant stay. Peter
Nice quiet location, well equipped kitchen, very helpful owner
Had a great week there.. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. Nice comfortable cottage within easy reach of lots of places. Even on a rainy day you can sit in the cottage and watch birds, rabbits, squirrels and even the chickens outside. We are looking to going again next year.
After a stressful spell at work we spent a week recuperating in this lovely cottage. Mrs Roberts and her family went out of their way to be warm and friendly - it was more like spending a week with old friends.
For animal lovers this is a delight with hens and a cockerel roaming - horses in the fields, rabbits running around.
After chatting about the animals I was even lucky enough to be taken out on Linda's pony a trap around the local lanes.
I highly recomment this clean peaceful home and will definately be back.
A lovely little converted cottage close to owners property. Perfect for two people. The owners are very friendly but not intrusive. There are lots of excellent walks in area. The whole of North Wales is opened up from here.
There was a relaxed atmosphere, and the owners were welcoming, friendly and helpful. An excellent cottage for people who like animals and appreciate simple country life. The cottage is simply perfect for a couple who want to relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape of Wales.
This is a lovely comfortable single story cottage set in stunning tranquil surroundings just outside the town of Ruthin in North Wales. The owners are friendly people and are extremely helpful. The cottage has the benefit of views of the Clwydian mountains which are just a few miles away. There is easy access to the town of Ruthin and the busy market town of Mold. For the keen angler there are several course and fly fisheries within easy reach of Ruthin and there is a small pond with golden rudd, perch and roach just a short walk from the cottage within the grounds and gardens. A perfect getaway for anyone who loves the beauty of North Wales. Highly recommended.
The cottage was excellent and situated in a good place for travelling around North Wales.
Mr and Mrs Roberts went out of their way to help our stay in the cottage easier as my wife has a walking disability and for that we are very grateful. If we do go back to North Wales again we will try and book the cottage again.
Just returned from a weeks stay at Tyn Y Minffordd and have to say had a really lovely time. The accommodation is actually on the same property as the owners so you do feel you're trespassing a little bit but the family are lovely and left us to our own devises whilst still being approachable if we needed anything.
The cottage is small and simple but perfectly adequate for what we needed, there is a fully fitted kitchen with oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge a freezer, a bathroom with shower cubicle (hot water aplenty) a double bedroom and living room with TV and DVD player.
The property is a 20 minute stroll into Ruthin, which we did a few times to go for dinner or a few drinks and drivable distance to almost all of North Wales, Wrexham, Chester etc
The only few negatives i would say that prevented a 5 star would be there are some areas inside that are a little tired and couple do with either a lick of paint or replacing (the shower screen for example is a little wonky) i also think that the living room could do with a more comfy sofa (a corner sofa would be ideal) as although there is a chair and 'sofa' in there, it feels very much like conservatory furniture rather than a nice comfy sofa to sink into after a long day walking. It is also advertised as coming with wifi via a cable but we couldn't find it - saying that, we didn't ask, and it wasn't an issue!
All in all though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone!
The owner and her family made us very welcome and went out of their way to help my wife and I. The house was perfect, ideally situated for getting around and seeing a lot of North Wales. Everything about the holiday was good.
A fabulous time, lovely owners, spectacular countryside; all in all as near perfection as possible.
Well appointed and equipped. Host family friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Excellent firm bed. Nice location and very pretty area.
