Self-Catering Reviews

A wonderful week away in a beautiful location.. The cottage is well equipped, spacious and nicely decorated. Within walking distance of the local village, which has a shop and pub. A little further along you can find the Bala Lake Railway. Weather was perfect for September, which meant many an evening spent in the hot tub, enjoying the peaceful surroundings, and the sheep paying us a visit to the fence! Kitchen has everything you needed to cook for a large group, we even did Sunday dinner from scratch! Heating wasn’t on when we stayed, but house soon warmed up with log burner, and we found we didn’t need the heating. Hot water plentiful and shower pressure was great. Being very rural it was great for stargazers. Plenty of activities nearby. We caught the train up Snowdon, walked to the summit and back down. White water rafting just down the road was exhilarating, as was the GYG Karting, again not too far away. For a first time visit to Wales we said we would definitely visit again. Only thing that was missing was an iron at the cottage which would have been handy, although we managed without. Thank you for providing a lovely place to stay.

Everything.. The Location, the accommodation, the hot tub, the wood burner, the stream down the road, the beautiful sunrises at 06.00, loads to do in the local area. There was nothing to fault. We would return as there is still so much to do.

The property is very well located.. However 1. bed mattresses are thin and uncomfortable 2. The house did not feel for a e.g. v dirty toilet brushes and holders, dead spiders in the crockery, glassware dusty 3. Spider webs across the entrance to cupboard containing cleaning items 4. Old dustpan and brush - would be easy to get a new one 5. Did read no towels available so brought these. But did not realise there would be no oven gloves, tea towels etc and not clear of justification for this.

Ty Mawr Cottage exceeded our expectations.. We were 2 family's that went away for the Christmas week together. The house and grounds have so much space you can not feel ontop of eachother. From sitting by the fire in the evening to using the hot tub and going for lovely country walks this place is the ultimate cottage for a family/friends gathering. Thank you for making our Christmas a special one. One that our 4 little ones will hopefully remember forever.

We had an excellent holiday.. The cottage has everything you need. Its very comfortable and the owners are very approachable and friendly. The cottage is situated in beautiful countryside with just the sheep for company. We were able to tour the whole of Snowdonia and we were never short of something to do. A great holiday which we did not want to come to an end.

June 2014
We spent a wonderful week as two families in this beautiful, tranquil location. The "cottage" is ideal with plenty of space for everyone - en suite bathrooom in one double room and spacious bathroom at the other end of the landing.. As well as the fantastic kitchen and dining room (complete with Rayburn!) there are two seperate lounges so it's possible for the kids to watch tv or play their board games whilst the adults sit in the other lounge - complete with an idyllic log burner - whiling away the wee hours! We would thoroughly recommend the cottage as a perfect place to explore a beautiful part of Wales ... and the hot tub is just an added bonus to what is a lovely house.

The cottage had lovely spacious accommodation, with everything provided that you need when staying in self-catering. Very approachable and friendly owners. Loved looking out on to the fields every morning and seeing the farm animals. Great views and very peaceful, a real 'escape'. It was nice to be able to wander out straight from the cottage and take a stroll in the countryside.

The cottage was the perfect size for our family to spend time together. The garden was very pretty and the outdoor seating excellent.
August 2013
Stayed with three generations of family and found the cottage perfectly suited, especially with the two separate lounge areas. The wood stove was cozy on chilly evenings, the outdoor space was lovely and we especially enjoyed trips to the creek and seeing our 'neighbors' the sheep and cows. Kitchen was well fitted and there was room to cook and serve dinner for seven. Perfect location for Bala Lake and the north and west coasts are accessible if you don't mind a drive. Great if you like a bit of room around you to spread out and be quiet.

We had a fantastic holiday. There was a Christmas tree with fairy lights, the fire was lit and in the kitchen, they had left us some welsh cakes, butter, milk and tea for when we arrived - very much appreciated. The walks were great and we would recommend it to anyone who loves the country way of life.

January 2012
This was a perfect cozy house for a winter break with the log burner etc. There were 4 adults and 4 children in our party and we all had plenty of room. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short but we would have loved to have stayed longer. I'm sure this house would be just as perfection the summer as it's surroundings are beautiful. The owners were great, very welcoming.
